AGI Hi Roller manufactures a line of premier commercial enclosed, dust-tight and self-reloading conveyors, designed for installation in grain handling facilities, soy and corn processing operations and industrial operations. It specializes exclusively in the design and application of conveyors which will not only contain dust and spilled materials but will also automatically reload that material back on the carrying surface of the belt.

The Opportunity

The Purchasing Manager actively manages the day-to-day materials, inventory, planning, scheduling, purchasing, and logistics functions for the specific AGI site. Ensures supply continuity, good supplier relationships, and solid suppliers’ performance on Quality, Cost, and Delivery. This role requires superior negotiation, project management, and coaching skills and a capability to work under ambiguity to deliver business financial targets. This role identifies cost reduction opportunities at the AGI specific site – building a fact-based business case to ensure project approval, acceptance and inclusion in strategy.

The Team

The Purchasing Manager reports to the Plant Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures supply continuity to the specific AGI site. Manages with intensity: Inventory, Cost, Quality, Delivery and Warranty associated with Supplier Relationship.
  • Collaborates closely with Manufacturing Operations to implement strategic and tactical objectives, define priorities to support AGI financial objectives.
  • Other Supply Chain and business activities assigned in accordance with the role.
  • Manages S&OP process and makes decisions to benefit the business.
  • Drives standardization and efficiency improvements across the plant purchasing team; ensure policies, processes and procedures are in compliance with ONE AGI initiatives.
  • Maintains appropriate Supplier Relationship Management programs for strategic and critical suppliers in the concerned categories of spend.
  • Implement the category strategies and build positive relationships with internal partners and suppliers.
  • Collaborates in the development and execution of multi-year savings plans.
  • Develops internal and external benchmarks and metrics to support AGI site objectives and ONE AGI Supply Chain objectives.
  • Develops and manages working relationships with both internal AGI functions and suppliers to manage resolution of supplier issues.
  • Coaches and mentors Supply Chain team to ensure succession planning and strong talent bench.
  • Supports supplier selection and contract negotiation process for key projects.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Supplier selection, management, and development.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, problem solving, and decision making tools.
  • Bachelor's degree (Supply Chain, Finance, Engineering or Business preferred).
  • Strong negotiations, project management, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with contract management, Long term agreements with suppliers, and negotiations to drive cost down while improving supplier’s performance.
  • Ability to travel ~10%
  • Ability to develop strategic thinking while coaching and mentoring teams.
  • Minimum 7 years of purchasing/supply chain experience in manufacturing and/or industrial environments.
