Job Description
THE POSITION

Do you like working on a small team with considerable independence but within established regulations and policies? The Financial Services Department for the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services is seeking an energetic, dedicated, cooperative, and motivated Purchasing Agent to join their team at its Loysville location. This position is located in a beautiful country setting at the Loysville Youth Development Center in Perry County with free parking. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Purchasing Agent with the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services, you will take part in complex purchasing duties involving independent decision making and the ability to organize work to ensure efficient operations for the Bureau of Juvenile Justice Services Purchasing Department serving the residents, staff, buildings, and grounds of its facilities.
You will need to adhere to all federal, state, and facility regulations, policies, and procedures governing confidentiality. You will also prepare procurement documents by researching state contracts, checking APRs, and SAP requisitions for completeness of information, preparing bid proposals, standard purchase orders, service purchase orders on SRM system, and other routine correspondence as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Full-time employment.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training. Post-high school education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for purchasing or stores experience to a maximum of two years.
  • Three years of experience in requisitioning, receiving, storing, distributing, and maintaining inventory of goods; or
  • Three years of experience in purchasing work involving contact with vendors in the procurement of a variety of supplies, materials, equipment, or services; or
Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
