Job Description
Come join the staff at OU HSC and become a part of Oklahoma's premier research university which leads the state in education and career opportunities. OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are currently building worldclass institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer. Provides a clinic, department, or research project with psychological assistance by performing psychological assessment, research, data analysis, report preparation, and counseling.
Duties:
  • Diagnoses psychological, behavioral and emotional disorders in accordance with diagnostic criteria
  • Monitors client progress through regular meetings and checkups
  • May provide counseling to patients, family members, or caregivers
  • Schedules appointments for psychological testing, interviews, counseling sessions
  • Conducts psychological tests including but not limited to psychometric tests, oneoneone interviews and direct behavioral observations
  • Assesses the general mental health of patients, mental abilities and behavior by conducting a variety of psychological tests including psychometric tests, oneonone interviews, and direct behavioral observations
  • Determines the frequency, intensity, and duration of the treatment plan
  • Collects data, analyzes and interprets data found through research or psychological assessment
  • Performs data analysis, report preparation, and counseling
  • Modifies treatment program accordingly
  • Provides psychological assessments to determine the general mental health of patients, mental abilities, and behavior
  • Communicates with care providers, patients, family, and/or caregivers
  • Researches new treatment options and improves existing treatment programs
  • Develops and implements treatment plan
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position
  • Prepares reports stating findings and treatment recommendations in accordance with medical records policies and procedures and HIPAA regulations
  • Conducts scientific research
  • May supervise staff including practicum students
Job Requirements
Education: Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work (MSW)
Experience: There is no experience requirement for applicants holding a Ph.D.; Master’s Degree applicant’s must have 48 months related professionallevel experience
Certifications/Licenses: Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or eligible within 90 days of employment.
Preferences: Ph.D. in Psychology
Skills:
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
  • Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
  • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
  • Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
  • Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
  • Ability to assess mental status in clients and to develop individual treatment goals and plans.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniques.
