Part-time - Day :
Located in Winter Spring, FL
Pay- up to $100/hourly BOE

Lotus Behavioral Health seeks an eager, energetic, and knowledgeable Psychiatric Physician Assistant: for a new Adolescent and Family substance use disorder/addiction and co-occurring mental health treatment facility in Winter Springs, Florida. The individual will support and guide the continued improvement and operations of a quality, compliant, clinically sound, holistic residential substance use treatment environment. Priorities include the provision of best practices, treatment modalities, metrics design, trauma-sensitive approach, family involvement, and successful transitions following recovery.

This role will report to Medical Director.:

Residential and Intensive Outpatient Psychiatric Services:
  • Respond to client emergencies
  • Provides teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested.
  • Aid in the development of a competency-based medical training program for clinical, medical, and behavioral health staff
  • Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions.
  • Collaborate with guardians, relatives, and significant others on the client’s conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
  • Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborating Physicians
  • Collaborate with counselors, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.
  • Help to evaluate agency systems and programs to ensure the health and safety of consumers; identify opportunities for improving outcomes in clinical effectiveness, clinical practice, services operations, and standards.
  • Aid in the Development, implementation, and monitoring of integrated medical programs
  • Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required.
  • Continually seek to improve and promote quality.
  • Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide information on general physical conditions and mental disorders.
  • Support medical initiatives aimed at maximizing the efficiency of operations, improving patient service, and enhancing quality and safety outcomes.
  • Responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients in various clinical settings during scheduled hours. Scope of services includes Residential and Outpatient psychiatric evaluations and medication management services. Primarily working in Lotus Behavioral Health’s residential facility.
  • Counsel clients during appointments, as necessary.
  • Hands-on service delivery when needed
  • Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat adolescents experiencing symptoms of behavioral health disorders.

Coordination and Communication:
  • Communicate internally and externally for the purposes of Psychiatric and Medical Scope.
  • Interface with and support other Lotus Behavioral Health Services
  • Communicate and coordinate treatments, labs, prescriptions, medical history, past treatment documentation, and other medical documentation with outside providers and vendors.
  • Aid in coordination of care within multidisciplinary teams of Lotus Behavioral Health

Professional Development:
  • Attend community education events/seminars to continue developing expertise in the field and improve important professional relationships, when applicable.
  • Complete and maintain compliance with the required training and education required for the position.
  • Participate in appropriate team and/or administrative meetings, assigned committees, in services, and other continuing education/training
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to enhance professional and job-related skills.
  • Maintain all licensure and certifications per position requirements

Requirements, Skills, and Qualifications:
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment when making decisions
  • Detailed knowledge of policies and regulations in the medical field
  • Ability to delegate and supervise tasks as required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clinical staff and patients
  • Hands-on skills in dealing with EMR

Education and Experience:
  • Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of Provident credentialing staff.
  • A state-issued Controlled Substance Registration (CSR) in Florida
  • Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with a focus on Psychiatric Nursing
  • Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Florida
  • Ability to work with youth/child populations
  • Graduation from a state-certified advanced practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
  • No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
  • At least 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders
  • Registration with the state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to talk or hear, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, taste, or smell.
  • Ability to move throughout the building as well as sit or remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move/lift 25 pounds
