POSITION SUMMARY
The Psychiatric RN position provides professional nursing services for the mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patient at home or in alternative settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct and indirect nursing care to patients based on a modified primary nursing approach.
Such provision of care includes, but is not limited to:
? Patient assessment -clinical and environmental
? Patient assessment ? mental health
? Coordination of related services
? Patient and caregiver teaching
? Development and revision of the plan of care
? Prescription administration, adjusting dosage under supervision of qualified medical staff
? Skilled nursing care
? Implementation of physician orders
? Monitoring of patient response
? Response to emergency patient needs
? Psychosocial support
? Administers and monitors treatment regimens
? Observation and reporting of any behavioral changes
? Works with patients on coping skills and being more independent
Completes all required patient care documentation and reports with accuracy and in a timely manner in accordance with internal and external regulatory requirements.
Corresponds with office personnel, physicians, and other health care providers to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.
Organizes daily work activities in accordance with patient needs, assuming on-call responsibilities and extended patient-related travel as required by the service area.
Guarantees use of proper protection during required work involving potentially hazardous agents and/or environments (i.e. handling of cytotoxic agents, blood and body fluids).
Works in a professional and ethical manner at all times in compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures.
Attends scheduled patient care conferences, in-services, departmental meetings, and all other related discussions as requested.
Maintains all employment requirements, such as: orientation compliance, clinical competence, professional licensure, certification(s), health requirements, and any other related accountability.
Maintains corporate compliance with creating, filing, and distributing documentation for patient care.
Handles all documentation with confidentiality and in an organized, efficient manner.
Able to meet set deadlines for data entry of patient information (within 48 hours of completion of visit) with complete accuracy.
Contributes to the training of other nurse clinicians or office personnel as needed.
