Job Overview


The Planning, Design and Construction Project Manager performs project management activities over medium to large scope projects.


Additional Information


Department: Planning Design Construction


Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits


Shift: 40 hours per week, Monday thru Friday. Full time onsite role.


Qualifications


  • EDUCATION – Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, computer science, or a directly related field
  • EXPERIENCE – Three years of project management or business/project analyst experience
  • EQUIVALENCY – In lieu of bachelor’s degree, four years of professional experience will substitute

Essential Functions


An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.


  • Conducts risk and cost/benefit analyses, manages risk associated with projects, and devises strategies to deal with unexpected crises and unresolved risks.
  • Develops and monitors project budgets, which includes allocating resources and tracking and approving expenditures; prepares reports detailing the status of the project budget.
  • Plans and conducts project meetings with stakeholders and team members; develops and maintains a communication plan and related project status reports for key stakeholders.
  • Develops and gains approval of planning, design and construction project plans, which outline the objectives of the project, scope of work, and project elements.
  • Coordinates the work of consultants and team members who have been assigned responsibility for various portions of a project; confers with multi-disciplinary leaders to establish work plan responsibilities and scope of authority; ensures technical proficiency and productivity of project staff and arranges for training as necessary.
  • Coordinates the vendor selection process; assists with contract negotiations and preparations then monitors projects for conformance to approved plans and contract specifications.
  • Performs project closure activities including release of contract and permanent team members from the project, and completing lessons learned and project implementation review of best practices.
  • Reviews and analyzes project changes requests and makes recommendations related to the execution of these requests.

Decision Making: Decisions or recommendations on non-standardized situations are limited to relating organizational policies to specific cases. Brings non routine issues to supervisor. Problems that are not covered by guidelines or are without precedent are taken up with the supervisor.


Communications: Contacts with the public or employees where explanatory or interpretive information is exchanged, gathered, or presented and some degree of discretion and judgment are required within the parameters of the job function.


Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

Salary Information


Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $80,486.09 to $120,729.13


Hourly Salary Range: $38.70 to $58.04
