Job Description

McCandless & Associates Architects is a General Practice Architecture firm in continuous operation for 70 years. We are a small firm in a small but growing town & have an established history providing excellent service to our clients. We are currently seeking experienced staff members to join our team in our downtown Woodland office. The ideal candidate has the necessary technical & management skills, a growth mindset, is comfortable working on a variety of project types & thrives working in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Select and specify colors, materials & finishes.
  • Monitor project scope & take appropriate action when additional services are required
  • Maintain complete & accurate project files
  • Provide project status updates at regular staff meetings.
  • Respond to RFIs & review submittals during construction administration.
  • Monitor & maintain project schedules & consistently meet deadlines.
  • Responsible for all aspects of development & execution of projects including site surveys, entitlements, zoning & code research, due diligence reports, design & production through all phases (SD, DD, CD, & CA).
  • Adhere to client prototype standards.
  • Coordinate with client, outside consultants, AHJ, product manufacturers, agencies & inhouse staff as necessary for successful project completion.
  • Monitoring of agreed upon project budget.
  • Working knowledge of Architectual redlines and efficient production of revisions and documents.


Skills & Requirements

  • Familiar with a variety of standard building materials and related construction techniques
  • Must be profiencent with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.), Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop.
  • Must be proficient in Redit & Auto CAD with excellent modeling & documentation skills. Experience Rendering in Revit is helpful.
  • Exhibit customer service attitude with professional, team-player disposition.
  • Possess excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with CBA and ADA.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work effectively both independantly and collaboratively as part of a team.


Experience & Education

  • 5 to 7 years of professional experience in commercial, retail and residential design.
  • Bachelor's degree (in Architecture or closely related field)
  • Portfolio of work that demonstrates excellence in design & project management skills.


Benefits & Compensation

  • 80 hours Annual PTO for employees with 0-5 years, accruement beginning after 90-day probationary period.

  • Compensation commensurate with experience.
