Project Manager – Electric Transmission & Distribution


CARIAN is growing! We are a proud, woman-owned management consulting firm providing program/project management, capital project delivery, consulting, and technology solutions to our customers in the renewable energy, power utilities, infrastructure, and transit/transportation sectors.


We are searching for a Project Manager – Electric Transmission & Distribution to join our New Jersey team. The Project Manager will manage electric transmission & distribution operations projects relating to transmissions power lines, substations, and other Electrical Capital Projects. The position provides oversight and coordination of all activities related to the successful completion of the assigned project(s), including design engineering, contingency planning (as needed), permitting, procurement, outreach, and construction.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Project Team to ensure deliverables and services are being provided to client’s satisfaction and that projects are following client’s QA/QC guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with client regarding efforts such as client coordination, strategic planning, scope management, budget finances, subcontracting, project staffing, environmental compliance, facility support and schedule attainment.
  • Report regularly on progress, cost and schedule metrics, engineering issues, procurement issues, safety or environmental concerns, and potential impacts.
  • Provide overall management of projects from concept to completion including but not limited to siting, environmental, permitting, planning, estimating, engineering, right-of-way acquisition, project controls, bid phase services, procurement, constructability reviews, material management, construction management, and closeout.
  • Travel to project locations will be expected.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Monitor project schedules, manage scope, and control project costs.
  • The Project Manager will plan, manage, direct, and coordinate all aspects of work related to distribution, transmission, and/or substation engineering and construction. (manage construction request for proposal process, lead evaluation of proposal, interface with construction management firm to ensure adherence to specification/contract terms and conditions).

Required Experience & Education:

  • 8+ years of utility industry engineering, construction, operations or project management experience
  • Experience in Electric Transmission and Distribution projects
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • Valid US driver license


Desired:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • PE License
  • Knowledge of SAP and Primavera
  • MS in engineering disciplines or MBA
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in electric Transmission and Distribution Engineering and Construction
