What You Will Do
Coordinate and manage engineering design projects for HVAC equipment. Project scopes will focus on new product development, value analysis and value engineering (VA/VE), and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). JCI is looking for a highly-motivated professional that will provide ingenuity and technical expertise in a world-class organization.
How You Will Do It

• Maintain and update submittal documents and engineering design guides.
• Coordinate design efforts to develop hydronic components including heat exchangers (aluminum fin, copper tube, steel casing) and piping packages (valves, y-strainers, flow control devices)
• Develop innovative designs and solutions for custom orders based on customer specific requirements.
• Coordinate design efforts to develop sheet metal and insulation parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with all disciplines of the facility to develop project requirements, generate concepts, and implement product improvements/cost reductions.
• Execute design improvements to optimize manufacturability and increase product quality.
• Create assembly bill of materials containing sub parts, raw materials, and purchased components.
• Execute the product development phase gate process to deploy new and refreshed product designs.
• Coordinate design efforts to develop solutions for electrical schematics, harnesses and components.
• Collaborate with production to build prototype and mockup products.
• Manage multiple projects at once to ensure priorities are set and deliverables are released per deadlines.
• Partner with the test lab to have prototypes tested for performance and reliability.
• Initiate process improvements to reduce design time and increase organizational throughput.
• Maintain cost reduction project roadmap with priorities, deadlines, and forecasted cost savings.

What We Look For

• Concise and clear written and oral communication skills.
• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Electrical or relevant engineering discipline.
• 0-2 years experience of hands on SolidWorks or Autocad
• 3D CAD design experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD preferred.
• 0-2 years experience in overall HVAC product design and application (or related field) with a focus on product design, manufacturing processes and project management.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
• Self-learner who can quickly learn to complete daily responsibilities and projects with minimal direction.
• Ability to work cross-functionally.
