Sr. / Executive Director, Program Team Lead
Nested Therapeutics / Cambridge, MA
We are a Cambridge-based VC-backed biotech focused on discovering and developing the next generation of small molecule precision medicines. We are advancing drug discovery programs based on a platform that combines insights in cancer genomics, structural biophysics and chemical biology. Our lead programs target novel and differentiated mechanisms for pathways comprising the heartland of cancer research, and we are developing our platform to establish a robust target discovery engine.
PTL Responsibilities:
- Manages prioritization of program team activities to enhance program value
- Ensures cross-functional alignment and organizational support for the execution of the operational plan as well as decision-making and issues resolution within the team and through the governance process
- Leads the program team, responsible for creating and developing the program strategy and operational plan, including realistic timelines, budget and resources planning, risk assessment and contingency planning
- Acts as spokesperson for the program, responsible for communication and information flow among the functions involved, within the Program Team and to Senior Management (regular status updates)
- Drives the program team to out-of-box thinking and creative issue resolution and to generate the highest quality and highest integrity data that enables clear decision making at the company level
- In partnership with the Project Manager, ensures and comprehensiveness and quality of program information in the internal systems/databases.
- Identifies bottlenecks, surfaces issues, and proactively drives for their resolution, and leads contingency planning efforts
- Challenges assumptions, timelines and expenses at program level, pressure tests plans, creates alternative scenarios to enable strategic and operational agility, develops risk mitigation/ issue management plans with the objective to meet the financial targets, aims at issue resolution and organizational efficiency
Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctoral degree with a scientific focus.
- Excellent relationship building skills and ability to influence to achieve desired outcome
- Outstanding proven team leadership skills and experience in a complex matrix environment, advanced program management skills.
- Expert planning and tracking skills, ability to see big picture, well-organized, focused on results, capable of managing multiple projects, excellent time management with respect to priorities and self-management
- 10+ years in the life sciences, biotech and pharmaceutical industry; at least 5 years equivalent multi-/ cross-functional leadership experience. Experience of clinical program leadership and leading a team from DC nomination through IND filing required. Ideally additional experience in a regulatory, translational medicine, clinical science, DMPK or other drug discovery roles. Small molecule expertise and oncology experience preferred.
- Ability to critically and objectively interpret and evaluate scientific and competitive business-related information
- Understanding of basic financial aspects, including knowledge of resource planning (headcount and budget) and management
- Broad and deep understanding of the drug development process and associated operational experience, advanced knowledge of regulatory and business requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for negotiating timelines and for effective collaboration
