Job Description
Wilmington College, located in Southwest Ohio, is currently seeking qualified candidates for the full time position of Program Manager for Prison Education in the Community and Business Development office on the main campus.


Summary Of Position


The office of Community and Business Development at Wilmington College in Wilmington, OH invites applications for a staff position as program coordinator for prison education to begin October 1, 2023.


This position will be responsible for coordinating the development of a bachelor's degree program in three Ohio prisons: Dayton Correctional Institution, Warren Correctional Institution, and Lebanon Correctional Institution.


The Successful Applicant Will Be Expected To


  • In year one, the position will be located at Wilmington College and will involve the initial setup and coordination of the new programs. In later years, this position will be located primarily at Dayton Correctional Institution and will require periodic travel to Lebanon Correctional, Warren Correctional, and Wilmington College. Classes are likely to take place in the evenings, Monday through Friday, and attendant duties will mostly take place in the late afternoon and evening.
  • Hiring adjunct professors as necessary.
  • Oversee the creation and administration of a new prison education program at the three sites, including ensuring federal and state compliance for reporting and financial aid purposes.
  • Coordinating and participating in the submission of financial aid documents and their secure delivery to Wilmington College as necessary
  • Scheduling courses and classroom space.
  • Supervising on site during class time, and coordinating acquisition of and/or use of appropriate technologies and materials for teaching incarcerated individuals.
  • Recruiting and enrolling incarcerated students
  • Serving as a liaison to Wilmington College Main Campus


Minimum Qualifications


Candidates must have a minimum of a Master's degree. Any field is acceptable, but fields such as Business, Sociology, Social Work, or Criminal Justice are particularly desirable. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, program leadership skills, and a commitment to higher education opportunities for incarcerated individuals.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience related to program leadership
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with diverse communities and commitment to providing educational opportunities to all people
  • Experience related to student financial aid counseling, prison education, higher education administration, schedule coordination, and/or social work
