Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

This position in the Office of Cancer Health Equity (OCHE) works closely with community-based organizations, local health care providers, and individual stakeholders, among others, to educate the community and meet the health equity goals of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and the Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. Major activities include developing, implementing comprehensive cancer focused education and awareness programming in the community. Executes community programming with specific sensitivity/cultural competence to the unique needs and circumstances of underserved populations across the catchment. Serves as the primary facilitator of the community tobacco cessation program, by providing tobacco control and tobacco-induced cancer screening to build community capacity.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in related field preferred
  • Two years of healthcare experience, preferably in health care planning

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION

Valid driver’s license

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develops educational awareness programs specific to the needs of the cancer center catchment area.
  • Promote the WFBHCCC in cancer health equity, tobacco control, and tobacco-induced cancer screening to the community through coordination and participation in community activities and committees.
  • Oversees the planning, coordination, and implementation of cancer specific community -based education programs, including needs assessment, background research, and determination of goals and objective.
  • Serves as program liaison, spokesperson, and representative; develops and maintains bi-directional relationships with various community partners in support of program activities.
  • Designs, utilizes, and distributes educational and promotional materials and plans. Attends, engages, educates, and connects individuals for access opportunities through community health fairs
  • Tracks, evaluates, interprets patient encounters, community education, and other program evaluation.
  • Manages public inquiry and requests relevant to the program and coordinates directly with outreach staff to meet needs when appropriate.
  • Participates in intern recruitment, onboarding, and oversight
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
