About Greater Newark Health Care Coalition (GNHCC):GNHCC is a non-profit organization and regional health hub dedicated to improving healthcare delivery and health outcomes, working in concert with consumers and stakeholders. GNHCC’s mission is to work collaboratively to improve systems and community and individual conditions from optimal health and wellbeing. GNHCC strives to ensure that residents of the Greater Newark region in Essex County, New Jersey have a fair and just opportunity to attain their highest level of physical and behavioral health through (1) neutral convening, (2) data analysis, (3) piloting innovative strategies, and (4) advancing health policy reform and advocacy. GNHCC is a community-rooted organization with portfolios and priorities guided by the needs of the region and comprised of employees who have established ties to the community.


Position Summary:The Program Manager of Child and Adolescent Health will manage GNHCC’s Child and Adolescent portfolio and strategies to advance key priorities in adverse and positive childhood experiences, pediatric asthma, and access to trauma-informed care. These areas currently include projects tied to GNHCC’s role as 1) the health anchor in partnership with the South Ward Children’s Alliance Promise Neighborhood Initiative, 2) projects tied to GNHCC’s role as the Chair of a cross-sector collaborative known as the Newark ACE Impact Team in partnership with the Believe in a Healthy Newark Initiative, and 3) project coordination of asthma improvement strategies.


Responsibilities


  • Support GNHCC’s convening of the Newark Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Impact Team, a cross-sector collaborative, and affiliated workgroups.
  • Inform GNHCC’s strategies related to advancing positive childhood experiences and mitigating adverse childhood experiences.
  • Support program design, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation across these priorities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Represent GNHCC on various South Ward Promise Neighborhood’s Collaborative Action Networks.
  • Serve as the GNHCC lead for the design and implementation of priority child health efforts, including pediatric asthma, childhood immunizations, and childhood lead screening and poisoning prevention.
  • Cultivate and nurture organizational relationships in the community, including with community based organizations, local clinical providers, and faith-based organizations, to support local child and adolescent health improvement efforts.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor project plans, project budgets and expenditures.
  • Represent GNHCC on designated committees, workgroups, and stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate with the data and evaluation team on the development of metrics for each initiative that support continuous quality improvement and accurately measure the impact of the initiative/program/outreach over time.
  • Develop reports and track progress towards achieving program deliverables.
  • Serve as the GNHCC point-person for the South Ward Promise Neighborhood Initiative, including a key role in the convening and facilitation of a Health Collaborative Action Network.


Key Qualifications


  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, resources and community-based organizations in the Greater Newark community
  • Excellent understanding of healthcare and social service systems
  • College degree; MSW, MPH or master’s degree in a related field a plus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to exercise judgment in the application of professional services
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team that includes internal and external partners
  • Proficient at analyzing reports and using data to drive performance results
  • Three to five years relevant professional experience
  • Experience with a non-profit or community-based organization
  • Project management skills and experience
