Position Announcement


Utah Valley University is currently seeking a Clubs Program Director! Working under the direction of the Assistant Director-Student Leadership and Involvement-Clubs, the Program Director-Clubs plans, implements, and facilitates a variety of activities and efforts associated with the student leadership and involvement clubs program. The Program Director is responsible for managing student group registration and the creation/revisions of registration procedures.


Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to building partnerships across campus, participating in the development and facilitation of student trainings and events/activities, processing student requests and forms, and managing student group participation. This position requires tenacity, diplomacy, a commitment to student involvement demonstrated through regular mentorship of student leaders, and strong customer service skills.


Summary Of Responsibilities


  • Department Systems: - Utilizes internal department database, ensuring student information is up to date for current use, archive purposes, and alumni interactions - Provides training on database use and functionality to student users - Develops forms for the collection of the necessary information from events/activities - Regularly communicates with staff and student leaders through the use of Microsoft Teams
  • Program Oversight: - Processes all student group requests related to campus scheduling, purchasing, catering, signage/marketing, fundraising, etc. - Tracks allocated budget use and reconciles monthly purchases and deposits - Contributes to the development of program learning outcomes by participating in group conversations with department leadership and assisting in the implementation of teaching activities - Directs the implementation of of programming, events, and activities fostering the development of special interest groups, connections/relationships amongst students and an affinity to the university - Conducts assessment to evaluate effectiveness of programs/events - Builds campus partnerships by collaborating with other SDWB programs and university units - Promotes program to the student community through development of marketing materials, distribution of program information to university units, tabling at events such as orientation and fairs - Directs the recruitment, interview process, selection and onboarding of student leaders - Facilitates the creation of design assets for marketing/branding and distribution of promotional materials
  • Performs other job-related duties as necessary to the program\'s success and Department of Student Leadership and Involvement, including assistance in executing departmental projects/events.
  • Student Mentorship: - Maintains a regular in-office presence and availability to advise and support student leaders - Conducts one on one meetings providing constructive feedback for progression - Evaluates student skill development - Creates teaching activities and facilitates regularly held student training - Supervises and tracks participation of scholarship student leaders and volunteers - Guides students in the planning and execution of activities, group meetings, development of partnerships, project completion, etc. - Attends student events sponsored by the program to provide staff presence and assistance when needed


Minimum Qualifications


Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor\'s degree in a di rectly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.


Preferred Qualications


Bachelor degree preferred. Work experience withi higher education, specifically student life and/or student leadership. One or more years of experience in managing/instructing small groups.


Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities


  • Basic knowledge and understanding of standard university services.
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedures and apply them in the appropriate settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, develop, and sustain relationships with others such as campus departments, students, staff, and faculty and contribute to a collaborative environment as a team player.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to student involvement.
  • Ability to effectively facilitate one on one and group meetings, including navigating sensitive subject content such as race, gender, ideologies, etc., and the introduction of new ideas.
  • Knowledge of planning, developing, and coordinating student programs.
  • Project and program management skills, including conception, development, implementation, management, and evaluation.
  • Knowledge of methods and practices of practical leadership principles and techniques, including mentoring and supervision.
  • Basic skills in public speaking and presentation to small and large groups.
  • Able to adjust to a variable work schedule, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
  • Basic technological skills including but not limited to word processing, email communications, spreadsheets, etc.
  • Demonstrated skill set centered on group dynamics, mentorship, and leadership development.
