The Production Supervisor will supervise and coordinate activities of employees within the Production Department. Monitor and supervise the department to ensure the established standards meet safe work and GMP practices. Responsible for ensuring daily production objectives are met efficiently and satisfactory. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include raining employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


The Production Supervisor will be responsible for 2nd and 3rd shift and will need to be available to work a flexible schedule. This is a Monday-Friday position.


Essential Duties


  • Collaborate with Warehouse, QA, and Maintenance staff to see that their support is effectively directed
  • Manage the daily staffing of the assigned crew, accounting for time-off and administering time-card records
  • Sustain a system of active communication within the department
  • Must attend all company and department required training
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the Production Department for the assigned shift or crew
  • Work with Human Resources on all employee relations issues
  • Strive for the achievement of Individual, Line, and company goals. Monitor performance through metrics and report performance through scorecards and reports
  • Compile required reports and documentation regarding operations, inspections, deviations, and corrective actions
  • Exhibit high levels of professional conduct
  • Other duties may be assigned as required
  • Enforce safety regulations, ensuring safety standards are met and required safety training occurs
  • Strategically manage shift, with the ability to identify and implement both short- and long-term process improvements based on observations
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace
  • Collaborate with other Production Supervisors to have effective operations between lines and shifts
  • Design and implement operating practices for the department, ensuring compliance with GMPs, and following the principles of Lean Manufacturing. These practices must be maintained as Standard Operating Procedures


RELATED DUTIES:Continues to update job knowledge through leadership training as requested. Performs related duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications


Training and Experience


  • Must have the ability to interact positively with others within the department and the organization
  • Must have the ability to effectively supervise others
  • Must be able to work effectively in a multi-tasking work environment and prioritize workload
  • Effective at problem solving and thinking"outside of the box"
  • Post-secondary education/training preferred
  • Strong analytical experience; ability to analyze data sources, bringing multiple solutions for company
  • Minimum 5 years of practical, hands on experience in an equivalent role or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Demonstrated follow through skills and the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Must be independently motivated and display leadership/supervisory skills to lead a team
  • Must be able to modify their work schedule as needed for personnel training or scheduling change needs
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to read write and speak English proficiently
  • Experience in effectively managing other people
  • Must know the Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must be able to speak effectively before groups
  • Well-developed training and presentation skills
  • Must be experienced working with computers and have the ability to learn, navigate and use designated software programs as required to perform job functions (Microsoft Office Suite -Excel, Power Point, and Outlook and ERP systems)


Physical Requirements


While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to use a keyboard and telephone. Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and occasionally standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting 50 lbs, and able to adjust vision for close vision work.

Manufacturing plant environment with some variations in temperature, fumes, noise, dust and atmospheric conditions.
