Job Description

Supervisor, Production

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for the coordination and supervision of production personnel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position will include training, scheduling, monitoring production targets and effective utilization of plant resources.

Performance Expectations

  • Participate in the corrective action process.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.
  • Complete tasks as assigned from Monthly Workplace Inspections.
  • Effective employee relations.
  • Review turnaround times for repairs and installations.
  • Allocating work to employees, setting production targets and communicating precise instructions.
  • Conduct employee meetings.
  • Monitor and initiate training activities in their department and all related documentation.
  • Perform weekly safety inspections, 5s inspections and layered audits.
  • Change work assignments and schedules to maintain and improve efficiency.
  • Plan employee’s days, schedule appointments and adjust schedules.
  • Manage, initiate, and direct the activities of employee’s and equipment.
  • Respond to employee concerns promptly and work with HR to resolve.
  • Review diverse skills to ensure tasks are assigned to appropriate workers.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Complete performance evaluations for their department as required.
  • Works and ensures that all employees work in a safe manner, in a safe environment.

Credentials

  • Minimum of three years of machine shop experience, and supervision experience is considered an asset.
  • Ability to continuously learn about new technologies, new products and new information within changing industries.
  • Assume a wide variety of roles to coordinate job tasks with workers and subcontractors.
  • Work accordingly to company mandates for communication, meetings and projects.
  • Knowledge of application, employment and safety legislation.
  • Participate in seminars, courses, and other learning opportunities through the organization.
  • Demonstrate communication skills to advise managers and supervisors on progress of jobs and obtain instructions and tasks.
  • Journeyman - woman trade certification in related field is considered an asset.
  • Organize and lead meetings with employees.
  • Ensure all maintenance, repair and inspection tasks have been adequately completed by workers.
  • Ability to identify structures and locate dimensions in scale drawings.
  • Possess coaching skills to train employees on equipment procedures, maintenance tasks and troubleshooting faults.
  • Possess excellent comprehension skills to read completed inspection forms.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent general education.
  • Knowledge in basic computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot machines and equipment.
