Overview:

This position is primarily responsible for executing the directives of the Plant Manager with regard to production of shippable product at the assigned Plant to meet customer requests in a timely and cost effective manner. Additionally, this position is responsible for working with sales to ensure short term and long term production strategy is aligned with customer requirements. Responsible for ensuring all production personnel have received proper induction, health and safety and environmental training, as well as task training. Develops production and loading strategies to raise productivity levels and control costs. Through the 1st and 2nd shift supervisors, directs the production workforce, sales loaders and ensures training of the loading crew.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage logistics and personnel for the shipment of finished stone products via truck and rail.
  • Coordinate safety issues and investigate incidents with safety department. Ensure environmental compliance, rehabilitation and meeting permit obligations.
  • Supervise team to maintain production and efficiency. Schedule production and execute preventative maintenance routines
  • Communicate with site crew which includes plant operator, loader operators and labourers. Depending on labour situation and plant size may need to load and/or be part of operating crew.
  • Develop and implement strategies for accomplishing the attainment of improved efficiency and productivity.
  • Delegate responsibilities; must be able to objectively evaluate the performance of subordinates; and must be able to hold others accountable in a constructive manner.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory levels at site to service customers’ needs
  • Directly responsible for production, yard loading crew, and rail loading crew.
  • Responsible for ensuring production facility is maintained via coordination with maintenance supervisor and maintenance planner.
  • Works with Quarry Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, and other leadership personnel to ensure entire operation runs efficiently.
  • Ensure safety of plants for which responsible by ensuring regular training on all safety standards, and other health and safety, and environmental guidelines. Promotes health and safety audits and regular completion of job safety analyses. Consistently identifies ways to improve the safety culture.
  • Address the needs of the customer while at the same time promoting and protecting the long-term interests of the Company.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Manages the performances of subordinate personnel, work independently, meet deadlines and manage the assigned Plant with fiscal integrity.
  • Participate in Company safety inspections as well as MSHA inspections.
Qualifications:


Education:

  • Good knowledge of Sand and Aggregate Mining and Related Raw Materials Plant Production, and the ability to motive department personnel to meet production goals, while maintaining the integrity of the safety program.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Business Management. Direct experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Must be a decision-maker that constantly incorporates common business sense into the decision-making process.
  • Material handling knowledge is essential
  • Ability to identify production problems, and the experience to solve those problems.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with good negotiation, planning, scheduling and people management ability.
  • Good working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, water systems, pumps, motors, conveyors and air systems.


Work Experience:

Three (5) to Five (7) Years Raw Materials Plant Production Experience

Experience dealing with logistics and customers

Experience with Quality in the mining industry

Computer proficiency required.

Travel Requirements:


Computer and Software Skills
:

Basic PC skills using Microsoft Office Application. Prior SAP experience helpful, but not required..

  • Able to handle multiple responsibilities at one time and must be able to deal effectively with people using a facilitative approach.
  • ACM plant operational and maintenance knowledge and experience.
  • Sound knowledge of OH&S and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to understand, analyse and interpret technical and financial aspects of the business.
