Job Description

Barrett Petfood is a family owned and operated premium pet food manufacturer. We are currently hiring for a Production Manager. This position will be responsible for overseeing the production of pet food manufacturing and sanitation of the plant.

Summary

The Production Manager will oversee general operations to ensure efficiency and quality in the production area of operations in a co-manufacturing setting.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Provides constructive, timely and regular performance evaluations.
  • Serves as the point of contact for work direction and issue resolution of the plant.
  • Organizes, trains, directs, and oversees production employees.
  • Provides guidance to team members to address immediate staff issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices including those related to safety and health.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Regularly inspects and evaluates products for quality.
  • Identifies and corrects problems and inefficiencies in process, materials, equipment, or skills.
  • Continuously looks for process improvement and best practices.
  • Develops and implements procedures and strategies to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Regularly reports to the Director of Operations to collect, evaluate, analyze, and assess operation.
  • Collaborates with Production Supervisors to coordinate operation among shifts and other departments in the facility.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Must have over 5+ years management experience and proven leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of raw materials, production processes, quality control, cost management, and other effective manufacturing and distribution techniques.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking through the factory.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on computers.
