Job Description
SWVA Kentucky, LLC is seeking a production clerk with experience in heavy manufacturing and shipping/receiving. The successful candidate will be a vital member of our production team painting, coating and fabricating steel, primarily for the truck-trailer industry. The employee is responsible for activities related to inventory control, shipping and receiving, and payroll in a heavy manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is adaptable, detail oriented and safety focused.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with payroll calculations for all workers including weekly piece bonuses and overtime, making adjustments as required.
  • Operate a forklift, assist with shipping and receiving processes, including loading and unloading trucks, sorting and staging material, transporting products, cycle counting and data entry.
  • Receive, calculate, and enter production reports, shipping, and receiving into inventory control system daily.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and ensure consistency and accuracy of the same
  • Collaborate with the members of the production staff and upper management to resolve work related issues that may arise.
  • Perform quarterly inventory counts consistently and accurately.
  • Identity and resolve any inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate employee records such as attendance and hours worked.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly storage area and assist with planning and housekeeping to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.


Skills


  • Six months to one-year related experience and training oran equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of specific and general safety policies and procedures as relates to the plant and the position is preferred.
  • Experience in a heavy manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with A/S 400 is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of inventory control processes, and ability to identify problems and perform basic mathematical computations is required.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is preferred.

The Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia has an immediate opening for a Storeroom/Warehouse Receiving Clerk. We are looking for a dynamic, organized, and motivated person to join our team. The Storeroom/Warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of a storeroom operation including responsibility for Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Maintenance, and Safety performance, to meet SDI’s world class standards. Indirect reporting to this position will be warehouse clerks and inventory/counter clerks.


This position will be responsible for continuous improvement, development, and mentoring, of subordinates within Storeroom receiving . The position is challenged to carefully evaluate problems and review a large number of possible solutions. The position will be responsible for setting priorities and establishing a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Including, but not limited to, barcoding and tracking plans for inventory, evaluating consumables to adjust stock levels. Working with Storeroom Supervisor to set overall storeroom inventory policies and ensure accurate volumes are maintained and cataloged within the division digital inventory management system. Ensure best inventory practices are maintained including spot check and periodic inventory audits as well as cost control measures.

  • Determination of inventory stock levels, in partnership with procurement, based on criticality criteria, movement history, lead times, and vendor recommendations
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop a cooperate work relationship with employees and vendors both internally and externally
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or 2 years min. of experience in Logistics or Supply Chain
  • Work with Supervisor in creating and ensuring execution of preventive inventory care routines, such as motor turning, to ensure suitability of parts for usage
  • The ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
  • Work with Supervisor in development of a job kitting strategy and process through collaboration with maintenance planners in order to support improved efficiency in execution of planned work in all areas of the plant
  • The Storeroom Receiving Clerk is responsible for overseeing receiving and stocking of storeroom items and that all receiving paperwork is filed in a timely manner
  • Working knowledge of mechanical/industrial products and good analytical skills
  • Ensure best practices for cost control and inventory management are maintained
  • This position will be responsible for continuous improvement and organization of receiving and stored items
  • Strong knowledge and progressively responsible job-related experience in at least one of the following Material Control, Purchasing, Parts Distribution Operations, Inventory Control, Manufacturing Operations, and Traffic Systems
  • Reports directly to the Storeroom Supervisor
  • Previous experience with inventory database systems, setup, management, and use
