Production Assistant Jobs

Curio Press is a small but growing stationery printing business. We handcraft our cards and notepads in our dedicated studio. We're looking for a proactive individual who can join our team as a part-time Production Assistant with a possibility for full-time employment as Assistant Production Manager in the future. You would be working side-by-side and under the mentorship of our Production Manager who currently does all the duties listed below and is needing help.

Responsibilities

Order Processing & Customer Service:

• Respond to customer inquiries, resolve issues, and gather necessary information to complete orders.
• Download order information and prepare print files using InDesign (training provided).

Production:

• Conduct regular quality assurance checks throughout production.
• Manage shipping packages using ShipStation.
• Monitor and maintain stock levels, informing management when restocking is needed.
• Handle restocking shelves and unloading pallets as needed.
• Perform basic troubleshooting on printing machines (training provided).
• Perform cutting, folding, packaging, and shipping prep for customer orders.
• Print orders on Canon or Konica presses from prepared files.

Sales Platform Operations:

• Update existing Amazon, Etsy, and Shopify listings with necessary text, data, or image changes to reflect platform requirement changes and shop updates.
• Post new product listings on Etsy, Amazon, and Shopify.
• Assist with SEO tasks as needed (training provided).
• Create product images for new products using InDesign and Photoshop (training provided).

Candidate Requirements:

• Reliable and punctual, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
• Must pass a background check.
• Past Adobe and/or print design experience is a major plus.
• Not afraid to ask questions and responsive to feedback.
• Required to sign a non-compete and confidentiality contract.
• Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
• Experience with computers, especially Mac. Prior experience in a similar role or with using platforms like Etsy, Amazon, and Shopify is a plus.
• Must be comfortable standing for extended periods and able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Customer service skills a plus.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (further education is a plus).
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems effectively.

Employment Type:

• Part-time (15-25 hrs / week)

Work Schedule:

• Wednesday: Generally a slower day except during the holiday season when workload increases
• Tuesday: Workload can range from a full workday to approximately 4 hours, depending on the time of the year (summer being the slowest period)
• The schedule for this position varies depending on the time of year and workload, with the most consistent need for support on Mondays and Fridays. Below is an outline of a typical week, however there is some flexibility.
• Additional availability during the busy holiday months of November and December is a plus.
• Thursday: No work in summer (our studio is closed)
• Monday and Friday: Full work days (details to be discussed during the interview process)

Compensation:

• Pay rate starts at $16 per hour (W-2) with regular pay raises based on performance
• Full-time employees are eligible for benefits (34+ hrs / week).
