What We Need:
The Product Manager is responsible for developing and implementing marketing and sales strategies for a specific product group. This person works closely with engineering, operations, strategic sourcing and channel management to define, develop, implement and maintain the value proposition around the product line incorporating product lifecycle management and marketing requirements to meet customer expectations. This person will also work with research and development to define, build and launch new products.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develops a comprehensive knowledge base of major market segments and competitive environment that drives action to Sales, Marketing and R&D
- Develops and executes pricing strategy for both list and off-book pricing
- Responsible for training both internal and external partners on product line to drive growth
- Manages product category strategy and P&L to achieve established revenue, margin and profit goals
- Maintains market position of products through competitive review
- Collaborates with channel management to drive product positioning for core customers via web and traditional print platforms
- Owns product lifecycle strategy for product offering
- Success is measured by organic growth, increasing gross margins and operating income, and a strong pipeline of new products
- Partners with Marketing Communications on marketing materials, press releases and launch plans consistent with established value proposition
- Works with Engineering, Operations and Strategic Sourcing to identify and execute cost out initiatives to maintain market competitiveness
- Develops and implements new product roadmap supported through voice of customer and market research
What You’ll Need To Be Successful:
- Proficient in written and oral communication
- Demonstrated technical expertise and experience with safety products and programs
- Up to 30% travel
- Minimum of 4 years of product management experience
- Ability to interact with both internal stakeholders and external customers
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Sciences or relevant field
Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Experience creating and executing strategies
- Sufficient technical depth to fully understand product development trade offs and next best alternatives
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and influencing others
- Decision making skills to determine the most important initiatives and the drive to push them to completion
- Significant product management experience in a manufacturing environment
- Master’s Degree in a technical field or business
