Job Description

Job Title: Product Manager

Department: Product/Technology

Reports To: COO

Summary:

The Product Manager is responsible for the overall success of Waites' products. This includes developing and executing product strategies, managing product development, and working with sales and marketing to ensure that products are successful in the market.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement formal processes to track and manage all aspects of our products and the many different groups within and outside Waites that are involved.
  • Provide guidance on important product-related topics that should be documented in a Waites knowledge base
  • Formally announce new products internally and share documentation with all relevant information (particularly for sales and customer success)
  • Confirm part numbers, official names, and descriptions are created for main product and each variant of it
  • Work closely with sales and marketing resources to determine any assets that might be need to be developed to support sales
  • All variations of each product (i.e. international versions, etc)
  • Oversee the product development process to track that each of these steps are occurring:
  • Work with the warehouse/manufacturing to provide clear direction about assembly/storage requirements of each product
  • Available products
  • Hardware testing (both internally and externally)
  • International certifications should also be factored in with clarity on which countries each product can and cannot be sold into
  • Legacy products that are no longer available
  • Final approval of product designs
  • Countries each product is certified for sale in
  • Confirm purchasing of all components and manufacturing orders are in place
  • Serve as the primary internal point of contact for all product status updates and questions.
  • Work with technical writing and engineering teams to develop appropriate documentation for each product (spec sheets, user guides, product/pricing lists)
  • Regularly-updated release date targets
  • Any necessary website development work needed to support the new product
  • Products in development
  • Maintain and manage all products including:
  • Confirm all appropriate certification process begin as soon as possible and are in place prior to official release
  • Confirm labels are designed/ordered for each product
  • Website testing of each new product (from the customer’s point of view)
  • Work with the installation manager to ensure the installation team has all of the necessary information to support product installation processes at customer sites

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in product management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of product development and launch processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
