Ultimately, the role of the LaunchPad Product Manager is to ensure the successful design and delivery of a next-generation rostering and identity management platform solution.


This requisition is part of the Pearson/MZD team, which develops innovative assessment technology platforms crucial to our future market strategy. The LaunchPad Product Manager will work closely with a team of peers that collectively pursue the goal of delivering world class assessment systems that roster state, district, and school data, deliver exams to test takers, score and reports result, and produce actionable, personalized insights unlike any other comprehensive systems on the market today. The LaunchPad platform is preparing for early go-to-market phases, and our team is enthusiastically engaged in the rapid, iterative build efforts that characterize this stage in our life cycle.


The successful development and delivery of LaunchPad is a multi-year project with enormous strategic value, leveraging state of the art technologies and processes. We are looking for exceptional candidates to strengthen the team surrounding this critical project who have a bias for action; creatively engage in design thinking about both their products and their process; relentlessly center user experience in their product management practices; and are comfortable finding comradery and connection among an ambitious team striving to deliver high-performing products.


Key responsibilities of this position include strategic collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to successfully facilitate the product development and implementation lifecycle; close partnership with our sales and product development teams to ensure technology requirements and deliverables are met; and engaging in continuous discovery internally and externally to determine user needs, competitor’s offerings, and market trends.


This position reports to the Vice President of Technology Strategy.


Responsibilities Include


  • Ensure requirements are robustly interrogated, agreed to, and communicated between and amongst customers, internal or external partners, and your development team as appropriate
  • Define and facilitate the product implementation strategy with your development team
  • Satisfy the needs of our customers – better yet, delight them with the best school assessment technology experience they’ve ever had – and then do it again
  • Assist in the development of test cases, and quality process documentation
  • Continually explore and advocate for new ways of improving our existing services and products
  • Aggressively evaluate and prioritize development tasks in pursuit of the product vision, fostering a shared investment in the pursuit of the product vision across the product development team
  • Effectively communicate the product implementation strategy to internal and external stakeholders
  • Build an incredible culture on your product development team by consistently executing sound product practices and delivering
  • Ensure implementation schedules are tracked and communicated internally and externally
  • Partner closely with Sales and Contract Management teams to ensure the product vision, roadmap, and current functionalities are well understood
  • Provide expert product design guidance to the product development team
  • Set clear vision for the product that can be communicated to stakeholders with ease
  • Develop and maintain product documentation and support processes that enable project and program teams to complete client onboarding across products with little to no support
  • Participate in marketing activities, conferences, and discussions with thought leaders and market analysts in the interests of our products, customers, and users
  • Study competitors’ services and products to gain market insights and a competitive advantage
  • Enable our Sales and Contract Management team to successfully sell our product and earn new business by providing them necessary technical expertise and coaching on the product
  • Suggest workable solutions to development teams with consideration for existing and new users
  • Assist with the creation of product marketing materials including how-to videos and new release feature showcases
  • Embody ownership of the product by driving innovative ideas, solutions, process, and products with decisive action


Required Skills And Experience


  • Proven track record of thriving in fast-pace, high-performing software development team
  • Able to distill strategic goals into incremental steps for development teams
  • Proven track record of excellent customer support and representation of brand
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail
  • 8+ years of education technology experience
  • Able to formulate and implement global strategies for products in early stage of product lifecycle
  • Proven success in relevant work experience as a product, project, or platform manager
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to successfully work on a virtual team
  • Able to distill product roadmaps into digestible and relevant presentations to key stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, or relevant experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to stakeholders of a variety of levels

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the Colorado, California, Washington State, New York State and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:


The minimum full-time salary range is between $85k - $115k.
