The American Red Cross is currently seeking a Product Development Director, Diverse Donors. The work location for this amazing opportunity is flexible, and can be located anywhere in the US.


What You Need To Know


The Product Development Director, Diverse Donors will lead Biomed's cross-functional efforts to engage LGBTQ+ communities and organizations and significantly increase our LGBTQ+ blood donor and sponsor base. The Director will initiate and lead a large cross-functional team to drive measurable change and establish a new comprehensive program with robust internal processes and metrics. The Director will also represent and champion Biomed’s LGBTQ+ engagement efforts with senior leaders and stakeholders across the American Red Cross.


Works remotely from any US location.


Where Your Career Is a Force Good


Primary focus for at least 1-2 years: 


  • Represents and champions LGBTQ+ community interests and the LGBTQ+ Engagement Initiative with stakeholders across the Red Cross
  • Leads a cross-functional initiative team and provides strategic oversight over LGBTQ+ engagement efforts across the organization
  • Orchestrates efforts across functions including recruitment programs, marketing strategy and content, communications, partnerships, volunteer strategy, employee engagement, regulatory changes, and field execution
  • Builds and advances an integrated plan for LGBTQ+ donor and sponsor engagement, including identifying and ensuring progress towards success metrics


Long Term


  • Leads blood product initiatives aimed at optimizing our portfolio and contributing to Biomedical Services' overall strategy
  • Continues to have accountability for LGBTQ+ engagement plans in implementation and maintainance phases
  • Works cross-functionally to design and implement product strategies improving the position, performance, and economics of blood products


Within 2-3 years, this position may be revaluated or modified based on the performance and evolution of the program. This may include expanding the scope of responsibilities in the current position or being absorbed into other future opportunities within the organization. This will be determined according to business needs at the point of evaluation.


Pay Information: For those candidates located in Connecticut and/or Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $119,000 - $159,000

What You Need To Succeed


  • Ability to lead projects through complexity and ambiguity
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication across multiple levels for a highly visible role
  • Experience in donor or sponsor recruitment, donor marketing, or humanitarian services marketing/fundraising a plus
  • Internal preferred; emphasis on finding qualified diverse candidates
  • Cross-functional program leadership skills
  • Experience or expertise working with the LGBTQ+ community preferred
  • Product management experience not required, but strong interest in product management, building strategies based on the voice of the customer and relevant transferable skills are essential


  General Qualifications


  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred. 
  • Experience: Minimum ten years of experience required. Experience in a dynamic, multi-task operational environment with product management and Profit and Loss focus experience preferred.
  • Travel: May involve occasional travel.
  • Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities. Demonstrated proficiency in product lifecycle management and product Profit & Loss management.  Strong leadership skills with ability to accomplish goals through delegation, teamwork and project management. Familiarity with current medical/technical principles of blood services, processes and operations highly desirable. General business acumen and collaborative innovation competence. Advanced problem-solving skills.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The work environment will consist of moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phones and printers, light traffic). The employee must have the ability to work in a small cubicle and have the ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
