Job Description
Our Opportunity

Chewy is dedicated to being the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents (and partners), everywhere. On the Product Design and Research team, we embrace this vision (and our pets!). We craft experiences that delight customers (and the businesses and veterinarians that support them) and empower them to keep their pets happy and healthy. As a team of hard-working, collaborative, and fun-loving designers, researchers, and builders, we’re looking for creative and driven talent to join the pack.

We are seeking a Product Designer in Seattle, WA OR Boston, MA offices to join the Chewy Pet Health design team. The ideal candidate will be adept at translating customer and business needs into innovative well-crafted products. You know how to create product experiences that enable pet parents, businesses, and veterinarians to accomplish their goals in the most elegant and enjoyable way possible.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the design process for your projects from end to end: Discovery and concept ideation, flows and wireframes, and full-fidelity prototype designs.
  • Develop multiple solutions for a specific challenge that can be delivered across a range of products, platforms, and devices with a bias for action and crisp prioritization.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers, developers, content strategists, user researchers, and other designers.
  • Nurture Chewy’s culture and principles within your team and the design practice.
  • Clearly present your design process, inspiration, and decisions to stakeholders, including C-suite executives.
  • Transform customer and business objectives into compelling products that have purpose, simplicity, and are feasible to build.
  • Champion cohesion and consistency to unite a growing family of products.

What You'll Need

  • 1+ years of experience leading large-scale product design initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent degree) in Design, HCI, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience with the design field.
  • A proven ability to evaluate the customer and business impact of your design decisions.
  • Position may require travel and time in the local office.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality digital products that delivered results and demonstrate the depth of your design skills; illustrated in a portfolio or case studies.
  • Proven experience communicating and presenting complex problems clearly.
  • 5+ years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, or similar role

Bonus

  • PDP, Cart, Navigation, Homepage to check experience
  • Visual design and UI skills
  • Pharmacy and eCommerce experience

Deliver Results

You use your expertise in program management and UX Research to turn ambiguous initiatives into clear plans, setting milestones and ownership. You act as an owner and problem solver, holding your team and peers accountable to commitments, but supporting the ability to course correct and deliver on time.

Earn Trust

You build trust across the team and with stakeholders by communicating clearly, openly, and regularly. You help the team achieve their goals and improve their work by clearing blockers, providing honest feedback and evaluation of risks, and by managing conflict or misalignment as it occurs. You do not shy away from the tough issues and know how to rally the team in times of need.

Think Critically to Solve Problems

You don’t just point out the problems and blockers, you provide options and pathways to clear them. You pull together the right subject matter experts and stakeholders to solve the problems that you can’t, and you ensure that the design team has what they need to solve experience problems for customers.

Build High Performing Teams

All that you do is repeatable. You identify gaps, but you quickly fill them by establishing long-term scalable solutions. You act as a trainer and developer of those around you, ensuring everyone is able to reach a new level of quality and efficiency, simultaneously.
