Modulous is seeking an experienced Product Designer to drive the technical design, development, detailing, documentation, technical innovation and improvement of our physical product offerings. As the Product Designer you will leverage the collaborative power of internal and external experts, along with technical and market knowledge to meet stakeholder requirements and launch competitive products which increase Modulous US market share.
Responsibilities:
  • Through collaboration with NPI, ensure product requirements for safety, supply chain, delivery, sustainability and cost are met via a technical design with high feasibility and efficacy
  • Research and coordinate the incorporation of code and regional changes, technical best practices and advancements, and developing market needs into all US product design through continuous improvement
  • Implement and inform global BIM standards
  • Produce product templates and assets (Case Study Templates, Revit templates, massing blocks, etc), along with other data and product collateral needed to support customer engagement, commercialization and delivery processes
  • Contribute to the codification of the Modulous US physical products within Modulous’ Software as a Service model
  • Play an essential role in the technical design, development, detailing, documentation, strategy, innovation, and life-cycle improvements of Modulous US physical products though a product development process.
  • Lead collaboration with internal and external design partners on the design of Modulous US physical products, including developing whole-building strategies for product-dependant systems
  • Work closely with our Product Development and Management Directors and teams to set strategy, continue improving our product development & continuous improvement processes, success metrics and strengthen our culture
  • Review project feedback to identify potential improvements and optimization for current and future products, while also supporting the use of product on projects, troubleshooting and resolving issues in assembly, construction or installation as needed

Requirements
What we’re looking for:
  • Meaningful engagement in sustainability in the built environment
  • Possess the desire and capabilities to execute on critical technical detailing, with demonstrated commitment to quality
  • Accredited degree in Architecture or related field, with experience in Type I, II and III IBC construction types
  • Relevant software skills, principally in Revit, BIM360, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to understand and apply product requirements and a product design process to product design, with a practical understanding of product development
  • Ability to navigate and apply major US building and accessibility codes, as well as local zoning codes.
  • Experience with consultant coordination and clash detection, with demonstrated ability to collaborate and operate with a lean, diverse, cross-functional team
  • 5+ years of experience in technical design of modular, pre-fabricated or other innovative method of construction in multi-family and/or mixed-use typologies, with demonstrated creativity, agility, and problem solving skills through solution-oriented thinking
  • Impeccable organization, written, graphic and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated dedication to continuous improvement, with experience engaging in process driving design
  • Commitment to learn and develop new skills
Bonus points if you have:
  • Ability to document activities and procedures
  • Direct, hands-on experience with construction administration, assembly, or prototyping.
  • Experience with Miro, Airtable, and ClickUp or equivalent agile software
  • Experience with non-combustible construction types.
  • Experience in an Agile team, or Agile management environment
  • Demonstrated interest in teaching and training others
  • Startup experience highly regarded
  • Codification of physical product design to support software development
