Job Description

MyDataProduct is a boutique data engineering consultancy and data product development shop.

Leveraging best-in-class talent, technologies, and techniques—we partner with ambitious clients to engineer data-enabled solutions to mission-critical business problems.

We are looking for an undergraduate Product Design Intern for a paid, 100% remote, 6-week internship. The expected weekly time commitment for this opportunity is 10 to 20 hours per week.

Please note that this internship is a 1099 contract opportunity, not a W2 opportunity.

This opportunity may be a good fit if

  • You have a deep understanding of Jobs-to-be-Done (JTBD), as defined by Tony Ulwick / Strategyn, and have put it to practice
  • You have a high-quality digital product design portfolio
  • Your aptitude, mindset, and resourcefulness make up for shortcomings in your current skill set

This role may require you to

  • Write UX copy
  • Conceive, validate, and implement compelling visual design solutions
  • Design product features that satisfy unmet and underserved customer needs
  • Leverage Jobs-to-be-Done Theory and Outcome-Driven Innovation to discover, define, and prioritize customer needs and customer segments
  • Partner with data product strategists and data product engineers to solve mission-critical design problems
  • Improve the visual design of existing slide decks, websites, and other company assets
  • Develop, maintain, and apply design systems
  • Use Figma to design user interfaces, user experiences, and prototypes for desktop and mobile
  • Conduct and document job-centric customer interviews
  • Collaborate with teammates using Slack, Google Workspace, and other software

An ideal candidate has

  • Demonstrated experience in a product design and product strategy, UX strategy, motion design, or UX research role
  • Effective modular thinking skills as evidenced by the ability to break down large, intricate undertakings into a series of smaller self-contained tasks
  • Emotional intelligence and coachability
  • Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills
