Working at Apollo

We are a remote-first inclusive organization focused on operational excellence. Our way of working ensures clear expectations and an environment to do your best work with ample reward.

The Role:

As a Privacy Program Manager you will play a crucial role in shaping and implementing our privacy strategy and ensuring that our practices align with global privacy regulations and industry best practices. You will be among the founding members of the Legal team, helping to develop and operationalize key processes and systems. You’ll be the resident point of contact for operationalizing all things privacy, but so much more. The ideal candidate will be a builder at their core and relish bringing together cross-functional stakeholders to drive key initiatives.

This is a 100% remote position (with the likelihood of optional travel to team and/or industry events) and will report to our Associate General Counsel, Product & Privacy.

What you'll be doing:

  • Work with teams like Support on assessing operational and process enhancements that can enhance compliance in the data subject access request and opt-out process
  • Develop and maintain methods of reporting on privacy related issues to relevant audiences, including through conducting regular privacy reviews and/or audits
  • Gather, lead and drive completion of privacy program OKRs among cross-functional teams, which may include product updates or reviews, policy revisions and launches, operational, process or system enhancements, metrics gathering, and more
  • Develop and implement Apollo.io’s privacy program, under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel, Product & Privacy, and manage prioritization, resourcing, and project lists
  • Work with Apollo’s AGC, Product & Privacy to implement advice and recommendations and to develop customer facing documentation regarding Apollo’s privacy program and relevant privacy law updates
  • Establish and enforce protocols for incident response and assist with any related privacy communications
  • Assist with managing employee privacy training and education programs, including any Privacy Champion or similar program
  • Work with teams like Business Intelligence & Analytics to understand, measure and track key compliance related metrics
  • Serve as escalation point for responding to privacy related inquiries and requests
  • Launch, optimize and manage privacy program software, including implementation, communications, and utilization among key stakeholders such as Security and Engineering

What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead without authority in order to drive cross-functional teams towards completion of deliverables
  • Proven experience in program management, technical program management, privacy, compliance, legal operations, or related fields
  • Experience working for a technology company, ideally in a SaaS environment
  • Self-initiative that drives a desire for impact and achievement
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to assess and mitigate privacy risks in a risk-adjusted and prioritized manner
  • A sense of humor and above all else, a positive attitude
  • Comfort with fast-paced environments where there may be ambiguity and several projects that need to be managed simultaneously and aptitude to prioritize and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders in such an environment
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with a knack for persuasive written communication that reflects organized thinking and clear messaging across different audiences
  • Knowledge of core principles of privacy laws and regulations and an interest in monitoring and researching evolving global privacy laws
  • Ability to scale processes and procedures and experience working with stakeholders in a variety of geographic locations and at all hierarchy levels of an organization
  • Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree qualifications
  • A belief and practice that no task is too big or too small
  • A pragmatic approach to getting things done

Preferred, but not required:

  • Professional privacy certification in at least one area (i.e. CIPP/US, CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT)
  • Prior experience working with an in-house legal team and in fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • Experience conducting data privacy impact assessments and supporting privacy audits
  • Experience optimizing the operations for data subject access, opt-out, and similar requests
  • Experience with privacy software programs and privacy communications
  • A desire to leverage data to drive decision making
