Job Description
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement risk management strategies. This involves participating in new project/activity planning and discussions, assessing privacy risks, and advising on proactive curative and/or mitigation strategies to comply with the Privacy Act of 1974, the Evidence Act, FITARA, the E-Government Act and FOIA.
  • Support Privacy functions to include all system of record processes such as Privacy Threshold Analyses, Privacy Impact Assessments, Privacy Act Statements, Privacy Policy Notices, SORNs, Forms Reviews, ODPAs, Routine Uses.
As a Privacy Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring that the agency's data processing activities comply with privacy laws and industry standards.
Job Responsibilities
  • Understanding of any new changes in privacy laws and regulations.
  • Involved in the establishment of strict program control processes to ensure mitigation of risks and supports obtaining certification and accreditation of systems.
  • Developing mitigation strategies for privacy risks.
  • Providing guidance and advice to teams across the organization on privacy issues and how to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with privacy policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring that privacy requirements are met.
  • Reviews processes and security protocols and makes recommendations for increased cyber security protection.
  • Developing and implementing organizational policies and procedures related to data privacy and security.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
Relevant Work Experience
5-10 years of experience in systems security.
Other Job Specific Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessments, audits, and incident response protocols.
  • Must be able to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
  • Exercises a limited degree of latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
