- Responsible for generating new schedules or daily reports.
- Greets and directs patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner to appropriate areas at the Eric B. Chandler Health Center.
- Schedules and maintains appointments through the Practice Management scheduling ( IDX ) program. Assures appointment scheduling is completed in accordance with the criteria of the practice. Acts as a liaison in scheduling patients from Robert Wood Johnson University ( RWJUH ) for appointments at the Health Center.
- Provides back-up coverage for Patient Business Services staff.
- Utilizes computer to process full registration information for new/established patients at every visit. Completes new/established patient’s demographics, emergency contact and insurance information in the Program Management System. Ensures referral is verified where appropriate. All collected information along with required forms will be scanned in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record).
- Assists with cash collections/reconciliation.
- Answers/screens telephone calls, makes calls, and takes messages.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical/general experience, preferably in a physician, hospital or health center setting including receptionist and scheduling duties.
- Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate effectively with patient population and faculty staff.
- Computer skills and excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
- Working with office equipment and confidential patient records and correspondence.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills.
- Proofread and check documents for accuracy.
- Experience in a medical office setting, including some billing.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish).
- Candidates having experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center.
- Work Environment: Moderate noise.
- Physical Demands: This position requires standing, walking, use of hands to finger, handle or feel, ability to reach with hands and arms 1/3 of the time
- Manual dexterity use of keyboard to enter data and video display terminal to receive and send information and data. Ability to talk or hear up to 2/3 of the time and sitting over 2/3 of the time. Must have clear vision at 20 inches or less (close vision). Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stoop and bend
- Ability to reach and grasp objects.
