Department Overview

Ensuring our work meets quality standards and is done right the first time Position Summary
This position is part of the Operational Performance and Improvement Team in System Inspections. Develops communication strategies and disseminates internal and/or external communications with the goal of preserving and strengthening PG&E’s reputation and credibility with various collaborators including employees, customers, the general public, regulators, and industry leaders. Specifically:
Researches and writes content for internal and external audiences providing information on programs, policies, projects and other efforts impacting the organization
Uses cross-functional knowledge and expertise to ensure consistency in messaging, tone and voice.
Supports other communications efforts both internally and externally providing ideas, edits and formatting to support communications strategies
Works with cross functional teams within the organization to develop targeted communication pieces for outstanding and/or individual audiences
Develops messaging and communications strategies for key initiatives and business changes/impacts
Manages requests for specialized information (programs, procedures, policies, projects, initiatives) for use by other departments or internal and external clients. Internal focus:
Assists with the development, implementation and coordination of employee communications and organizational change strategies, with the goal of communicating critical business initiatives, internal updates, changes and leadership messages.
Facilitates and builds collaborative relationships within the company to develop strategies for communicating products and programs.
Consults with organization leaders in order to project a unified and consistent message.
Gathers employee insight and feedback to understand how messages are received and incorporate into future communications.
Partners with coworkers at every level of the organization to understand project details, translating information into executive level communications (email, PowerPoint, etc.)
Proactively finds opportunities to share updates in the most effective communication method
Drive communication delivery from start to finish, overcoming challenges including leadership availability and schedule conflicts, ensuring communications get out timely External focus:
Works with the other departments to provide timely, relevant information about programs and operations.
Uses expertise to facilitate and build collaborative relationships with internal team members within the company and external parties such as industry leaders, organizations, regulators and utilities to guide key decisions within PG&E, and to package and present information persuasively for critical external and internal audiences.
Consults with other lines of business organizations in order to project a unified and consistent message.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreements, and internal equity. A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $132,000
Bay Area Maximum: $226,000
&/OR
California Minimum: $125,000
California Maximum: $215,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office, and your assigned location based on business need (currently 2 - 3 days a week). Headquarter location is Oakland General Office or Dublin Innovation Center. Responsibilities:
Acts as a leader with vision and provides strategic mentorship, applying extensive unique subject matter expertise in the development of strategy or resolution of sophisticated communications issues
May manage major cross-functional projects and initiatives
Works regularly with senior management to support crucial communications planning and decision making
Manages the development, planning, implementation and coordination of communication strategies, messaging and action plans of the highest complexity and visibility internally and/or externally
Works with leaders across the company on strategic issues and ensures communication alignment with line of business goals.
Partners closely with department leadership to remain current on challenges and opportunities affecting the company and its employees.
Makes recommendations on how to best frame and position key issues applying critical communication approaches and vehicles.
Develops crucial communication plans on business strategies and priorities and ensures alignment and integration with key internal and external communications partners.
Applies communications measures, metrics and standard methodologies to develop comprehensive strategies and plans. Qualifications
Minimum:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Valid driver’s license required
8 years of related work experience Desired:
Master’s degree
Identify and seek out data and data modeling requirements to support communication strategies and plans.
Able to present highly sophisticated findings to senior management
Ability to present sophisticated initiatives/projects and findings to internal and external collaborators and to leadership across PG&E.
Ability to solicit and integrate information from a variety of sources
