RESPONISBILITIES


The Press Operator II task is to work jointly with the Press Operator I for the direction and utilization of the press. The second operator is responsible to ensure that plates and correct stock are staged at the press for an effective and efficient change over as well as compliance requirements associated with the department procedures. The second press operator must be ready to take over the press in the absence of the Press Operator I.

  • Directly responsible for the operation of the rewind stand, slitting blades and roll tension.
  • Four or more years’ of experience working within the printing industry
  • Check if approved proof or layout is in job jacket.
  • Perform all external activities while the current job is running to facilitate an efficient change over.
  • Must complete Safety Orientation, Departmental Safety Training and OSHA Standards Training
  • Verify print position on the roll as well as slitting requirements.
  • When unloading the printed roll, pull a sample and check print quality against the approved sample.
  • Must have high attention to detail
  • Associates degree from an accredited College or trade school preferred
  • Check if inks needed are ready and perform quick draw down on the first pail or drum.
  • Assist the press operator in print trials.
  • Other duties assigned by Management.
  • At the end of the press run, check the condition of the plates and advise if new plates will be needed for the next run.
  • Assist the press operator in print diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • This position requires the annual completion of Hazardous Waste Management training – provided by ProAmpac.
  • Assist the press operator in patrolling press during press run to check for deviation from signed copy.
  • Ensure that the job jacket contains reference material for copy and color verification and approval.
  • Adheres to all plant Safety, AIB and GMP regulations.
  • Understand and execute the Customer print quality and sampling protocol.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure
  • Preview and validate the schedule by confirming the job jacket has been provided with the correct job instructions.
  • Stage print sleeves and bridge mandrels.
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks
  • Verify coating requirements according to job instructions.
  • Work experience with computers and other business equipment
  • Carry out tasks as assigned by Management.
  • Assist in Coordination of print orders and trials according to the schedule.
  • Locate the print sleeves and make sure they match the work order.
  • Check the condition of the plates and the anilox rolls needed.
  • Read and understand the work order.
  • Follows OSHA safety standards.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
