Job Description

The Office of Senator Mark Kelly seeks a diligent, experienced Press Secretary to serve as a spokesperson and execute the day-to-day operations of a fast-paced communications team. This position will be based in the Washington, D.C. office and report to the Communications Director. This is not an entry level position and qualified applicants will have at least five years experience. Responsibilities will include planning and executing press plans for the office; pitching and responding to inquiries from Arizona and national press in a timely manner and in collaboration with legislative and outreach staff; managing outreach to Spanish-language media; scheduling, preparing for, and staffing press interviews; drafting media materials including advisories, releases, memos, and talking points; and staff management.

Ideal candidates will have strong writing skills, attention to detail, a track record of working with reporters and outside stakeholders, the ability to track and manage numerous tasks, and experience working directly with a principal.

Candidates with Arizona ties preferred, and written and verbal Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred.

This position offers a salary of $75,000 and is eligible for benefits.
