Job Description
Job Title: Press Operator


Classification: Non-Exempt


Department: Forging


Reports to: Forging Supervisor


Night Shift


Purpose:


This position is responsible for operating a trim die press. The operator is charged with operating the press with timely cycles and checking parts consistently and accurately for quality defects.


General Duties:


  • Assist in the preparation of daily production reports and maintain appropriate records.
  • Press operation and product quality assurance.
  • Directly works with maintenance to ensure equipment up time.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Forging Supervisor.
  • Ensures Press utilization is at a maximum operational availability.
  • Promotes, maintains, and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for themselves and other KAAP employees in accordance with regulatory requirements and Company standards.
  • Ensure all SOP are followed and not deviated from.
  • Ensuring consistent basic quality standards and procedures.


Skills:


  • Understanding and utilization of 5S concept.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and troubleshoot equipment issues.


Requirements:


  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Must be willing to work a (4 Star) 12-hour shifts (willing to work every other weekend and some holidays). Shifts are either 5:00 AM to 5:10 PM or 5:00 PM to 5:10 PM. New Operators will most likely start on night shift.
  • Willing to work in hot/humid, cold, noisy industrial environment.
  • Good communication skills. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally.
  • Willing to work around dust, oil, grease, chemicals, and other substances.
  • Willing to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations; including wearing personal protective equipment.
  • High school degree or GED equivalency.
  • Able to use a computer for basic reporting and documentation.
  • Able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods, to include but not limited to: lifting, walking, standing, stooping, pulling, and pushing.
  • Must work safely.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to accurately use basic math.
