Position: Litho Press Operator
Position Status: Hourly

Position Overview:
Directs press crew and performs manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance and operations of a lithographic press and other related duties as directed by the Printing Department Manager and Supervisors.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Understands printing job requirements by studying job specifications; assessing requirements for lithography, organizing job schedule sequence while retrieving required ink and paperboard stock; (inspecting printing plates and blankets)
  • Minimize downtime, troubleshooting stoppages and breakdowns, calling for Maintenance assistance. Ensure consistent Printing Machine operation by completing preventative maintenance as required.
  • Communicates with customer to establish standards during press approvals.
  • Ensure that ALL ISO 9001:2000 Procedures, Work Instructions, 6-S, and QPOC’s are followed.
  • Shuts-down printing presses by removing ink and paper; cleaning parts and components; returning paper and ink to stock.
  • Sets-up printing presses by loading stock and adjusting for size; setting feed board, side guides, register board, and delivery mechanism; mounting and setting printing plates and blankets; adjusting pressures and tensions; loading and setting inking mechanism; setting computer controls.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership and responsibility for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Maintains production and quality by inspecting random production samples; loading paper; adjusting settings and controls; correction feed and delivery issues.
  • Establishes printing quality by pulling proof sheets; adjusting ink distribution, press speed, water distribution balance, differentiating color, and setting drying temperatures.
  • Ensure all necessary supplies are ready prior to running a specific job.
Mathematical Ability:
Able to use basic math skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; may work with fractions, decimals, or percentages.
Qualifications:
8-10 years Litho experience
Communication Skills/Requirements
Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with management, peers, and other employees. Have active listening skills, attention to details, and follow-through. Have a strong customer focus. Required to identify areas of need, while defining problems, and identifying potential options and solutions to meet and exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate tact, professionalism, teamwork, flexibility, attention to detail, an organized approach to work with a positive attitude.
Reasoning Ability
Majority of tasks require some judgment. Needs to define problems, draw valid conclusions. Must exhibit solid attention to detail. Must be able to perform multiple tasks and work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Normal level of concentration is required for accuracy.
Safety
All duties to be performed in compliance with the company guidelines, and safety policy.
MUST WEAR Ear plug hearing protection, safety glasses, and face mask in Designated Areas.
MUST WEAR Hair Net when handling direct food contact packaging.
Education
High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be authorized to work in the United States
