The American Council of Engineering Companies of VA (ACEC/VA) is seeking a President who will be responsible for overall strategic and operations efforts. This position ensures ongoing programmatic excellence and rigorous program evaluation. Additionally, responsibilities include consistent quality of finance, administration, communications, and systems. The President is the face of the organization and represents ACEC/VA in fundraising and legislative advocacy while representing ACEC/VA as a very professional, efficient, and member-oriented organization. The ideal candidate is a strong, committed, and passionate leader with excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills who thrives in a team environment and will take the initiative in problem-solving and creative thinking.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Participation in membership recruitment and Working with the Director of Communications & Membership to develop marketing strategies, branding, and communication with members.
• Collaboration with appropriate Directors and Committees to plan events, speakers, and meetings.
• Implement a strong annual budget and organizational plan.
• Board of Director activities, including organization of Committee Chairs, submitting reports to the BOD, and regular meetings with the Board Chair and Executive Committee.
• Monitoring and initiating legislation pertinent to the engineering committee, providing information to and communicating with ACEC/VA’s lobbyist, and organizing individuals and groups to visit appropriate Legislators.
• Obtaining sponsorships for events and ensuring that fund-raising is accomplished for state and federal Political Action Committees (PACs).
Qualifications:
• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related field, and/or minimum of 8 years of senior management experience.
• Track record of effectively leading and scaling a performance-outcomes-based staff.
• Track record of developing operational strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth.
• Proven experience with associations/nonprofits.
• Ability to manipulate and utilize Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Publisher).
• Ability to utilize basic Google products (calendar, email, Google Docs, Zoom, Teams, etc.).
• Eligible to be registered as a lobbyist.
• Ability to travel 2-5 days at a time throughout the year.
