MISSION OF ROLE
- Manage capital structure, ensuring optimal leverage of financial resources to expand a portfolio of capital investments.
- Partner and consult with the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership to evolve and drive the mission, vision, strategic direction, long-term goals, initiatives, and budget prioritization.
- Provide clear communications to the Board of Directors and Executive Leadership with regular business reviews showing progress against the strategic plan and organizational initiatives.
- Assess and leverage new and existing technology platforms to ensure the organization drives towards continuous improvement, efficiency, and high-quality performance for guests/residents and employees.
- Drive organizational change by implementing effective change management approaches providing guidance for both people and processes.
- Maintain a deep understanding of the company's financial position, proactively and consistently communicating the company's financial strategy and performance.
- Define, shape, and guide organizational capacity and priorities, driving toward operational excellence to enable expansion of service reach.
- Foster strategic alignment by maintaining consistent communication and engagement with the Board, Executive Leadership, and frontline staff, cultivating connection to the mission and organizational values.
- Champion diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging by actively expanding agency partnerships, enhancing community impact, and setting departmental goals with measurable outcomes.
- Drive a healthy, equitable, and inclusive union and non-union workforce aligned with the core values, honors diversity in all forms, and service to anyone in need.
- Nurture a workplace culture that encourages empowerment, collaboration, transparency, openness to new ideas, and organizational agility.
- Lead the Executive Leadership team to capitalize on the existing strengths of the agency and expand on the assets to accelerate impact in the community.
- Build collaborative and beneficial relationships with faith-based communities, respectfully and effectively engaging with individuals and organizations representing diverse beliefs.
- Support the cultivation, recruitment, and selection efforts of highly effective Board members who have philanthropic capacity and inclination.
- Represent Compass Housing Alliance as a leader for affordable housing and essential human services, influencing and building trusting relations with external partners, the community, government, and other key stakeholders.
- Drive fundraising strategy, partnering with the Director of Advancement to effectively package and communicate the values, goals and accomplishments of Compass Housing Alliance to funders, donors, prospective donors, and the broader community while serving as chief spokesperson and passionate advocate.
- Experience building long-term relationships and partnerships with key community, business, nonprofit, and government leaders.
- Proven track record of strategic and visionary leadership in a complex organization inspiring new ways of doing business that bring about positive and impactful change.
- A minimum of 5 years in a CEO, President, Executive Director, or similar leadership role in relevant industry or the nonprofit sector.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience required.
- Ability to fundraise through corporate donations, foundation grants, philanthropic organizations, and government funding programs.
- Understanding of nonprofits addressing issues related to housing insecurity, housing development, mental illness, substance use, sexual assault, domestic violence, and/or emergency services or healthcare provided to people in need.
- Nice to have: Experience in affordable housing and/or housing development; leading an organization that has unionized workers; Graduate degree: MBA, MPA, MSF etc. is a plus.
- Strong financial acumen, budget management, and capital asset management between 20M to 100M.
