The Predoctoral Scholar, SOM participates in the daily activities of the laboratory with the purpose of facilitating the development of a high-level research program.

Core Job Functions

Prepares experiment proposals with detailed rationale, background data, and proposed methods and organization. Conducts laboratory experiments and studies and records findings. Maintains data files and conducts data analysis. Drafts and publishes manuscripts and articles for peer-reviewed journals. Assists in preparing grant applications. Designs, and with supervisor approval, executes, interprets, and integrates scientific data. Maintains current knowledge of significant developments in the field. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

• No prior experience required
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required

Department Specific Functions

The incumbent will work at the Diabetes Research Institute under the direction of Alberto Pugliese, MD.

The incumbent will work on a research project that examines recurrence of type 1 diabetes in transplant recipients.

This research will involve the analysis of stored blood samples, primarily by flow cytometry.
