The Makhlynets and Korendovych Labs are looking for a highly motivated postdoc to join our team and to advance several funded projects. The research will devise the molecular detail of the interplay between protein scaffolds and metal cofactors that ultimately determine changes in protein function. Specifically, we will devise molecular determinants for metal preference in ribonucleotide reductase. We will test the limits of our recently-developed method of NMR-guided evolution and apply it 1) to probe evolutionary links between enzymes in different organisms and 2) to design highly active metalloenzymes for practically useful reactions.
