Job Description
Description

The Position

Do you dream about creating a more sustainable future? At Uplight, we are motivating energy users and providers to accelerate the clean energy ecosystem. Working with over 90 of the world’s leading electric and gas utilities, Uplight provides an end-to-end customer energy experience. Uplight delivers personalized experiences that customers have now come to expect–improving satisfaction, increasing revenue, reducing the cost to serve, and contributing to carbon reduction goals. We are B Corp certified, enabling us to put our values into action by not only making decisions for the benefit of our shareholders, but also for our customers, environment, employees, and community.

We are seeking a Program Manager to join our team and help us achieve our ambitious goals for our business and the planet.

What You Get To Do

Uplight is seeking a process manager and analysis expert to help us build core Professional Services internal operational capabilities, and design and run new processes. This work will require strong skills in data gathering and analysis; process mapping design; and system and tools requirements gathering, selection and implementation.

Our team of solutioners, delivery managers and executives will rely on you to be the information, process and tools expert that makes sure that we consistently have the right information and clarity to execute technology projects that help our clients reduce energy and carbon use, improve customer experience and electrify the grid.

You will represent the Professional Services (PS) group on cross-Uplight teams that use information to plan resources, manage pipeline and monitor and manage our delivery. To be successful, you’ll need to collaborate with external stakeholders and Uplight Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Operations, and Client Success teams. The right candidate needs to be adept and effective at cross functional communication and coordination. You will need to be comfortable operating at both the strategic level (e.g. process improvement; long-term planning; etc) and at the tactical level (e.g. resolving client issues).

Skills and experience are necessary, but we hire on value alignment first, so if you feel you would be a good fit with us, still consider applying.

What You Will Contribute

  • Plan key professional services projects e.g. coordinate cross-functional resource reservations, develop project/program scenarios, facilitate tradeoff conversations
  • Represent Professional Services needs to other PMO groups, including the implementation, product and sales teams.
  • Work with PS and other Uplight groups (sales, finance etc) to maintain, automate and update key cross-PS tools, like the project dashboard, financial and pipeline dashboard.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis to support the improvement of professional services sales, solutioning and delivery processes and group performance.
  • Conduct weekly reviews with finance of revenue and cost tracking to support the PS P&L statement.
  • Own key processes, tools and documentation and training for the Professional Services team, including planning, project management methodologies and tools, revenue recognition and cost tracking, or others.
  • Develop new tools to support Professional Services growth and scaling.

What You Bring To Uplight

  • Not be afraid to dig into hard problems and be proactive in tackling those problems
  • 4 to 10 years of project management office experience
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills, tenacity, and fortitude.
  • You are motivated to accelerate a high-growth startup environment. Although Uplight isn’t a startup, professional services at Uplight is, and both are growing at their best when our team is pushing for change and improvement to win in the market.
  • Patient, communicative, team player that is detail-oriented and has outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • You work well in ambiguity - synthesizing new or unstructured problems and creating structure and clarity so others can function more effectively.
  • An ability to develop relationships across the organization in support of efficient delivery of work. Your version of ‘playing well with others’ includes creating clarity around accountability and role, but seeing the whole picture and helping others, not just ‘staying in your lane’.
  • Committed to high quality and high value results
  • Exceptional organizational skills and process orientation, you have a history of keeping larger groups organized through your work.

Bonus Points

  • Prior experience in data pipelines, ETL, and/or analytics
  • Prior experience working at a high growth software company in the energy or utility space
  • Be passionate about energy consumption and making a difference in the world

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women, marginalized genders and people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Uplight we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyways. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Salary Range: $103,000 to $121,000 USD
