Job Description
  • Performs general sewer work, such as unclog etc.
  • Must have valid driver’s license to operate district owned vehicles with an acceptable driving record as determined to meet district motor vehicle insurance coverage requirements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • One (1) year trade school course work in plumbing or applied job experience which provides the knowledge to troubleshoot, perform maintenance and service calls.
  • Work involves frequent exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals bio hazardous materials, dirt dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  • Works with team to install or replace plumbing systems, follow maintenance schedules, log work accomplished, and interact with building based personnel to ascertain problems and locations of needed work.
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 75 pounds
  • Willingness to obtain, or in possession of, state Apprentice license (meeting all of the requirements to do so as dictated by Oklahoma Construction Industries Board).
  • Knowledgeable of current city codes and EPA regulations.
  • Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
  • Cleans and solders pipes as needed under direction.
  • General knowledge of practices, tools and terminology of the plumbing trade.
  • Ability to learn or perform routine preventative maintenance on plumbing systems.
  • Must have experience or general knowledge of Plumbing trade and willingness to learn all phases.
  • Performs work in a safe manner on a daily basis and ensure that all safety measures are taken at all times.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions as given.
  • Works in a team-based environment to share information and workload while ensuring all assigned work orders are completed.
  • Ability to perform duties in confined spaces and awkward positions when necessary.
  • Assists Journeyman with repairs and replacing commodes valves, diaphragms, washers, commodes, urinals, sinks, faucets, stems, drain lines, water lines, etc. to include decayed or damaged water and supply lines.
  • Promotes the overall effectiveness of the organization by performing tasks and sharing responsibilities of other members of the Department during peak periods or when there is an overload of duties.
  • Operates district owned vehicles to perform assigned worksites.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, work in small spaces, walk and reach overhead and work from a lift.
