Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Plastics Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Plastics Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure vehicle and process integrity through systems development and process management within the Plastics department.
The person in this role will support the Plastics Department's objective to lead chronic problem resolution and support quality improvement. The Engineer will also work with Production Group Leaders and Managers to lead process cost reductions, productivity improvements, and safety initiatives.
What you’ll be doing
- Develop project proposals, strategies, operating plans and Ringi's (Bottom Up support and agreement for a decision or idea)
- Lead quality process, material, cost, productivity, safety, environmental and equipment improvement initiatives
- Support production-initiated kaizen to ensure no negative KPI impact
- Investigate perceived process and/or equipment problems utilizing careful and systematic analysis
- Lead new material introductions to ensure no negative KPI (Key Performance Indicators) impact
- Lead equipment and refurbishment projects and/or process changes
- Report out identified problem, root cause, possible countermeasures and recommended solutions to management
- Provide daily process support
- Propose best solution based on cost time feasibility impact to production and KPI targets
- Coordinate cross-department investigations
- Ensure vehicle and process integrity
- Lead and support change management
- Question and investigate daily inquiries from production and/or maintenance
What you bring
- Experience managing KPI (Key Performance Indicators) for Manufacturing or process improvement projects, including safety, environmental, quality, productivity, and cost
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical degree
- Experience in problem-solving with equipment, processes, production, and materials and developing countermeasures
- Experience with Injection Molding and/or Instrument Panel technologies
- Functional project management experience for new equipment and materials within a manufacturing environment
Added bonus if you have
- Experience with PLC Programming, including Ladder Logic, Allen Bradley, Toyopuc or similar software
- Design experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar CAD software including the ability to read, interpret and modify both 2D and 3D drawings
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering or Chemical Engineering
- Experience teaching robots in production processes and mechanical movement
