Planning Advisor

The role of Planning Advisor is integral in our high end wealth management firm. The Planning Advisor is the primary point of contact for our client relationships.The right person for this role shares the core values we listed and has not just a service mentality, but a hospitality mentality.Those are the soft skills.

What are the hard skills?

·This not a business development role, but it will entail nurturing prospects through the Twelve Points process and determining if they are a fit for our firm and if we are a fit for them.

·The ideal candidate has a passion for creating plans for our clients that implement sound financial planning principles, in the areas of investments, tax, estate planning, risk management, philanthropy, employee benefits and retirement forecasting, to create an advanced, comprehensive plan. The Planning Advisor is part of a team, comprised of a Wealth Advisor, and a Relationship Manager.This team member is responsible for identifying the data necessary to perform an in-depth and ongoing analysis of the client’s current situation with tailored advice to help them attain specified financial goals.Our Planning Advisors must be comfortable leading discussions with our clients should they have questions or need an explanation regarding their financial plan or a planning related topic.

The Planning Advisor is self-motivated and is responsible for driving the planning objectives and deliverables within the team.He/she will lead internal preparation meetings and contribute their knowledge in collaboration with the other team members.The Planning Advisor will initiate suggestions for each client based on the personal needs and objectives of the client.He/she will help develop and deepen new relationships with an eye towards creating a repeatable, referable process that will grow our existing client base.Solid financial planning knowledge and project management skills are extremely important to succeed in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·Act as client’s main point of day to day contact, develop and assist them in implementing their strategy

·Use Money Guide Pro financial planning software to enter client data, calculate solutions, creatively explore options to implement comprehensive and situational financial plans, plan updates and financial modeling, within strict time constraints

·Work with our Chief Investment Officer to recommend the appropriate investment plan for clients.

·Ability to discuss and review investments with clients, explaining market moves, etc., present CIO’s quarterly letters, etc.

·Analyze financial plans and organize meetings with team in preparation for client reviews

·Create detailed action plans for clients to be able to follow to reach their financial goals

·Manage workflow, deliverables and internal team to ensure timely delivery of plans

·Create and manage each client’s service delivery plan to ensure all planning topics are regularly and thoroughly covered

·Participate in client meetings or phone calls, as needed

·Research financial planning questions

·Proofread and edit client presentations

·Pursue continuing education within the field, disseminating information within the firm and to clients, as appropriate

Qualifications:

·BA or BS degree and CFP Certification required

·At least 5 years’ professional work experience in financial services

·Experience with planning software, particularly Money Guide Pro

·Knowledge of Salesforce, and Riskalyze a plus


·Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written

·Ability to work effectively as a member of and a leader within a team

·Flexible, creative problem solver with critical reasoning skills

·Highly organized with strong attention to detail

·Strong desire to see clients achieve their financial aspirations

·Proficient in Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel, and Power Point

·Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment with the ability to work under pressure
