The Loudoun County Department of Planning & Zoning is seeking an experienced land use professional for the position of Planner II in the Land Use Review Division. As Planner II, you will review complex legislative and administrative land development applications for compliance with County ordinances and reviews regional issues that impact Loudoun County. This position provides recommendations to the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors regarding project consistency with adopted land use policies and ordinances. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of land use planning and land development and will be able to coordinate with other departments and agencies, prioritize tasks, meet critical deadlines while autonomously managing multiple assignments, and present cohesive technical analysis to decision-makers. This position plays a large role in the implementation of the Loudoun County 2019 Comprehensive Plan and is part of the planning team that will guide the evolution of walkable urban places near the County's planned metro stations.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Public Administration, Public Policy, Business Administration, or a related field; five (5) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Progressively responsible work experience at a level that required management of complex planning and land use projects is preferred.American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification is desired. ArcGIS is strongly preferred.
Salary Commensurate with Experience.
Special Requirements
This position requires an analytical thinker with real-word experience in land planning, building and site design review, and resource preservation. The ability to manage a high case load, prioritize tasks and meet critical deadlines is required. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to a variety of situations including frequent interactions with staff, applicants, top governmental officials, and citizens. Presenting at regular evening hearings and public work sessions is required.

This position may qualify for relocation assistance in accordance with County policy. This position requires a valid driver's license, driving record check, and background/credit check. The department promotes telework after completion of 3-months employment.
