JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Pipefitter/Welder REPORTS TO: Construction Manager
LOCATION: Various APPROVED/REVISED DATE: 5-8-2017
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY: With Construction Manager’s oversight, responsible to plan, coordinate, and install piping systems
to support ongoing construction projects. Position is required to continuously improve project safety, quality, and
efficiency as a front-line representative of CST Mechanical, Inc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
§ Accurately interpret project drawings, specifications and fabrication/shop drawings of required piping systems.
§ Determine various project requirements, such as scope of work, assembly sequences, or required methods or
materials, using associated project drawings and written/verbal instructions.
§ Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating,
cooling, lubricating, compressed air and/or industrial processing systems.
§ Clean, bevel and prepare various pipes and fittings for weld joints.
§ Proficient with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding and TAW
(TIG) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), also known as Stick Welding.
§ Weld pipes in multiple positions, including the horizontal rolled position (1G), horizontal fixed position (5G), pipe
incline fixed (6G), and vertical position (2G).
§ Complete welding procedures on pipes of various materials including stainless steel, carbon steel and copper
nickel piping.
§ Proficient with oxy-acetylene cutting torches, grinders and other hand tools.
§ Proficient with pipe soldering and brazing.
§ Perform work in industrial, cramped and sometimes harsh ambient conditions safely without supervision.
§ Train new employees or helpers as required.
§ Maintain equipment, making repairs or modifications when necessary.
§ Perform miscellaneous tasks, as assigned by his or her supervisor.
§ Responsible for all other duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform all assigned welding projects in a safe and timely manner.
EXPERIENCE:
§ Minimum two (2) year’s experience in construction or related field.
TRAVEL: Frequent periods of travel within the region.
HOLIDAY AND WEEKEND WORK: Flexibility to work holidays and weekends.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
§ High School diploma or GED equivalent.
§ Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
§ Welding Classes or a Welding Certification Program is desired.
QUALIFICATIONS:
§ Must have a clean driving record.
§ Must complete a successful drug and background check.
§ Ability to communicate professionally at all levels of the organization and with external contacts.

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger
use of construction personnel hoist, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust
focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk, and
hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. While performing the duties of this position, the
associate regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the associate is exposed to moving mechanical
parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and at risk of electrical shock.
The noise in these environments is normally moderate to very loud. Use of company provided personal protective
equipment for all known and potential hazards are mandatory. Frequent lifting of equipment between 10-50 lbs.
