Summary


Town and Country Living is a home textiles company seeking FREELANCE studio assistants to help as needed in our North Arlington, New Jersey studio throughout the year.


We are looking for those with prior set building and textile sample handling experience working in a studio or theatrical environment. Preference will be given to those who know techniques, equipment, and processes related to photography and/or video.


Key Responsibilities


FREELANCE Assistant will take ownership of the sampling process, maintain set walls by painting and patching as needed, build, and strike sets, and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the studio.


  • Check product samples and keep them organized using a digital tracking system.
  • Build and paint studio sets as needed.
  • Cleaning and organizing the studio.
  • Steam and iron products prior to the photo shoot.
  • Assemble furniture and props as needed.
  • Set up products and props as required or directed by Stylists.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Work with the studio team to expedite set preparation.


Requirements


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Experience working in a photography studio, film set, or theatrical environment, and understand the needs and demands of the Stylists/Art Department/Photographers.
  • Can work with a minimum amount of supervision and be capable of strategically prioritizing multiple tasks proactively.
  • Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Set construction: You have a background in set building, painting, light construction, or related Experience and are comfortable with power tools.
  • Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and can organize various projects around deadlines.
  • When deadlines or priorities change, you remain flexible, understanding that this is the nature of the business.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for possible set material runs.

  • IF AVAILABLE: Please provide photos or a portfolio link to examples of past projects that highlight your building and fabrication skills.
  • Wallpaper, tile work, fabrication, or carpentry skills are a significant bonus.
  • Comfortable with technology and work management tools and quickly learns new software.
