Job Profile Summary: Oversees the day to day operations of the pharmacy ensuring patients are receiving optimal pharmaceutical care and customer service. Manages pharmacy personnel including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, daily workflow and performance management. Manages the pharmacy drug distribution systems and monitors to ensure best practice is being followed.

Principle Responsibilities
  • Evaluates appropriate medication dose, route, frequency and administration.
  • May work collaboratively with Allina Home Care partners, liaisons, nurse care coordinators, and social workers to help facilitate new referrals and admissions.
  • Supervises day-to-day operations of pharmacy.
    • Oversees daily workflow and makes adjustments as necessary.
    • Completes department scheduling to account for business need.
    • Supervises, coaches and trains pharmacy staff members on optimal workflow.
    • Provides coaching, mentoring, recognition and corrective action, if necessary.
    • Completes annual performance reviews.
    • Oversees customer service and takes accountability for next level escalations from staff.

    • Evaluates appropriate medication dose, route, frequency and administration.
    • May evaluate compatibilities between medication, IV solutions, and parenteral nutrition and may oversee provision of and compatibility of supplies and equipment.
    • May program and maintain pump technology and medication delivery devices.
    • Counsels patients and families on all new medications, refills, and over-the-counter products.

Job Requirements
  • 0 to 2 years as a pharmacist required and
  • Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy required or
  • Preferred Pharmacy Residency upon hire
  • Doctoral/Ph.D. level advanced degree in Pharmacy required
  • Licensed Pharmacist - MN Board of Pharmacy required within 180 Days
  • 2 to 5 years Pharmacy leadership in outpatient, hospital or home infusion pharmacy preferred

Additional :

This position is in the Prescription Assistance Program, not in a retail pharmacy. The Pharmacist will supervise the Prescription Assistance Team, help patients with manufacturer applications for free medication, manage systems used in the PAP, make recommendations for streamlining the process and coordinating with providers and the ACT (MTM) pharmacists. This is a Monday through Friday day position and part of the work may be done remotely.
