The YMCA of South Florida is looking for a Personal Trainer for the Allapattach YMCA Family Center. The Personal Trainer will assist members in setting and achieving their fitness goals while emphasizing a high level of customer service and professionalism. This position will also tailor individual plans for members and provide the one-on-one instruction that is needed to achieve the goals. Each Personal Trainer will be responsible for intentionally connecting with individuals to demonstrate their value by advising and selling personal training programs and packages.
This role has an additional role of “Healthy Lifestyle Specialist” which is used during wellness floor hours to do orientations/demos and any other responsibilities given by the Healthy Living Director.
Essential Functions:
- Monitors that the wellness floor is neat and equipment used is returned to its proper location in an organized manner before the shift is over.
- Through interaction with members, advises and sells personal training programs and packages.
- Daily reconciliation of personal training appointments in Mind Body application.
- Ensures that all necessary equipment is available for member use, and inspects equipment to be sure that it is in safe working order. Reports damaged or out service equipment. Report all maintenance issues immediately.
- Consistently completes assignments professionally and on time.
- Conduct all assigned member appointments with a high level of professionalism, providing the members appropriate information and support to assist them in meeting their fitness goals.
- Assists Healthy Living Director in meeting department-specific annual fundraising goals via specific individual support and direction provided by Healthy Living Director.
- Meet and Greet every Member
- Learn Member’s Names and use them
- Maintains themselves visible and approachable at all times while working the floor
- Reports for work as assigned; if unable to work secure the appropriate substitute.
- Promotes member participation in all programs in the Family Center.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
- Follows Healthy Living Foundation Service Standards in addition to:
- Meet and Greet every Member
- Learn Member’s Names and use them
- Starts and Ends Sessions on Time
- Conduct all assigned member appointments with a high level of professionalism, providing the members appropriate information and support to assist them in meeting their fitness goals.
- Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
- Maintains accurate records, data entry, and private member information.
- Maintains minimum personal training hours and dollars (GOALS) assigned by Healthy Living Director by driving new clients and retaining existing clients.
- Assists in the cleaning and maintaining of safe equipment, wellness floor area, and appropriate offices.
- Starts and Ends Sessions on Time
- Has knowledge of and is able to communicate all programs and services being offered in the Family Center.
- Delivers safe, effective, fun, and interesting workouts (in that order) to all fitness-training clients.

- A trendsetter who will stay current with leading-edge trends in health and fitness to provide exceptional programs and services to our members and team.
- An individual who demonstrates compassion and caring for individuals he/she comes into contact with on a daily basis.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge of the principles related to the improvement of overall fitness levels.
- College Degree preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Must possess strong communication skills and computer skills is preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years of customer service, sales experience is preferred.
- 1-2 years related fitness experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
- Healthy Lifestyle Principles Training
- CPR certification must be attained within 90 days of hire.
- Required professional certifications: (ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, ISSA, APFT) and or BS in Exercise Science or Kinesiology
- OSHA Training for hazardous materials within 90 days of hire New Employee Orientation
As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprinting background screening and drug test.
As a Drug-Free Workplace, all new hires must successfully complete a urinalysis within 72 hours of notice. Failure to complete the drug test within this timeframe will automatically disqualify you from employment. Please note Medical Marijuana cards do not exempt you from successfully passing your drug test.
