We are seeking a skilled, compassionate Per Diem Chaplain to support patients facing life-altering conditions, families making difficult decisions, and staff trying to draw on their resilience. You would lead worship and/or meditation services in our chapels and in our patient-care areas. You would become an integrated member of the interdisciplinary team. You would educate our healthcare team on culturally humble and evidence-based spiritual care. You would lead support groups, give lectures/workshops, and participate in the continuous improvement of our department and our field. You would become a member of our chaplaincy team, giving and receiving moral and practical support with your fellow chaplains. You would model professional chaplaincy to chaplain students. And you would embody compassion for all people, whoever they are, whatever they believe or don’t believe, and whenever they need your care.

Become a member of a dedicated clinical team of professional chaplains and support an extensive ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education program that includes interns, residents, Certified Educator Candidates, and Certified Educators. Serve patients from around the globe at a prestigious tertiary hospital, while also serving patients from the immediate community. Currently hiring for NYP/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and NYP/Weill Cornell Medical Center. We’re uniquely shaping the field of hospital-based spiritual care. Join us.

We expect this Per Diem Chaplain to work about 1–2 shifts each of about 4–8 hours per week.

Preferred Criteria:

• Certification by the Association of Professional Chaplains’ Board of Chaplaincy Certification, Inc., the National Association of Catholic Chaplains, Neshama: the Association of Jewish Chaplains, the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care, and/or the ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education—including four units of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education, a master’s degree in theology, psychology, or philosophy (or equivalent), recognized faith-/spiritual-group endorsement (or equivalent), one year of full-time experience (or equivalent), and demonstrated professional competence
• Proficiency in Spanish

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
• One unit of ACPE Clinical Pastoral Education
