Job Description
PRS, Inc., recognized as one of the 50 Best Nonprofits to work for in the US and one of Top Places To Work by the Washington Post, is a community-based nonprofit organization that serves individuals living with mental illness, substance use disorders, mild intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and individuals who face life crises.
We are accepting applications for Peer Health Coaches to provide outreach and support to clients on-site and off-site in the community.
Responsibilities
  • Arrange crisis intervention as needed.
  • Conduct support groups focused on health maintenance and prevention on medical disorders;
  • Complete client notes/records as required;
  • Provide assistance in transportation education and transport clients to medical appointments;
  • Coordinate and complete health assessments within tight deadlines;
  • Provide education on the recovery process, including conducting WRAP groups, and promote opportunities to enhance the ability of consumers served to move into recovery; and
Qualifications
  • Ability to learn disease management, health maintenance, and WRAP curriculum;
  • High school diploma or GED; Certified Peer Specialist a plus.
  • Valid driving license with clean driving record is required; and
  • Ability to utilize supervision to clarify clinical concerns;
  • Must be a Peer which is a person who has personal lived experience and has used mental health services (past or present);
  • High degree of empathy toward individuals with serious mental illness with the ability to connect with individuals of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
Amount of Travel and any other Special Conditions or Requirements:
  • Ability to work occasional early evening and/or weekend hours which may be scheduled
  • Use of personal vehicle to travel within service delivery area (Gartlan and Merrifield).
